Princess Eugenie Reveals Newborn Son's Name—and Photos of the Royal

It's a boy for Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank! The royal couple welcomed their first child together on Feb. 9, and on Feb. 20, the new royal parents revealed the newborn's name: August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

"We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank," Princess Eugenie wrote on Instagram. "Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.⁣"

The series of photos, which were taken by Princess Eugenie's midwife, feature the new parents proudly holding August—as well as a close-up shot of the little royal. In her caption, the princess also thanked the essential workers "who came to discharge our boy."

And the name actually holds special meaning for the couple and is a tribute to August's great grandfathers. She explained on an Instagram Story, "On his grandfather's birthday weekend, thinking of my grandfather, we are introducing our little boy. He is named after his great grandfather and both of his great x5 grandfathers⁣."

August made his first debut to the world on Feb. 9 when the new royal mom shared a black-and-white shot of his fingers, along with the caption of blue hearts, on Instagram.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the happy news, writing, "Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital." Brooksbank was present to watch his wife welcome their son into the world and the couple's family, including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Phillip, Prince Edward, and Sarah Ferguson "are delighted with the news."

The baby joins the ranks of a new generation of royals—and is officially Queen Elizabeth's ninth great-grandchild. He's also the first child for Princess Eugenie and her husband, who announced they were expecting in September of last year, just a month shy of their second wedding anniversary.

And since Princess Eugenie is one of the Queen's only grandchildren with a personal Instagram account (she's always sharing never-before-scene pictures from her royal wedding!), we're hoping that we'll be able to watch the young royal grow.
