Royal wedding alert! Just in case the festivities surrounding Meghan Markle and Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's respective weddings last year weren't enough for you, know that we have yet another royal wedding on the horizon: that of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. The couple is officially engaged, according to a new statement from Buckingham Palace. Pour out a pint—it's time to celebrate!
On Thursday morning, Buckingham Palace released a statement announcing the engagement between the ninth in line for the British throne and Mozzi, the director of a property development firm. "We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together," the newly minted fiancés stated in the press release, according to the BBC. "We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness."
As per Harper's Bazaar, the proposal took place earlier this month during a vacation in Italy, reportedly around the time of the recent wedding of Misha Nonoo in Rome, which Meghan Markle and Prince Harry also attended.
The wedding will take place next year, but before we begin obsessing over who will design Princess Beatrice's wedding dress and bake the towering wedding cake, can we first obsess over that engagement ring?! Mozzi proposed with a three-stone engagement ring, designed by jeweler Shaun Leane. Featuring a round-cut center diamond flanked by a pair of baguette diamonds, the truly stunning engagement ring was revealed in an Instagram post from the bride's sister, Princess Eugenie.
"Beabea - wow! I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be," Eugenie wrote, captioning a series of engagement photos of Princess Beatrice and Mozzi—that were actually taken by the younger York sister. Perhaps in addition to engagement photographer, Eugenie will also soon be able to add 'maid of honor' to her resume!
The groom-to-be also shared some shots of himself and the bride to Instagram. "You will never be alone my love, my heart is your home. Hand in hand, today, tomorrow and forever," Mozzi captioned the romantic black-and-white photos, snapped by photographer Misan Harriman.
Princess Beatrice's mother, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, couldn't help sharing the engagement photos herself, either. (Such a typical mother of the bride already!) "I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy," she wrote alongside the images. "I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law."
Congratulations to the royal bride and groom!
