Ever since Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg got engaged to Nicolas Bagory in November of 2022, royal wedding fans have been waiting for the moment the couple will tie the knot. On April 22, 2023, the daughter of Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg and her fiancé said “I do” in a civil ceremony. According to People, the bride and groom arrived at Place Guillaume at 9 a.m. to greet the public. Then, the ceremony took place in the Town Hall of Luxembourg City at 9:30 a.m., where the couple exchanged vows during an intimate service with just their respective families present.

For her attire, the bride donned a sophisticated white suit, which included loose pants and a matching cream jacket. She accessorized with a Chanel clutch and diamond earrings, and she carried a bouquet of lily of the Valley. According to Insider, Alexandra’s outfit choice strayed from the traditional white dress that royal brides typically wear for their big day, such as her mother’s gown when she married the grand duke. For the groom's look, Bagory sported a navy suit and blue tie.

After becoming newlyweds, the princess and her now-husband stepped out of the town hall, where crowds of people celebrated them, per the publication. The couple then joined their families to head back to the Grand Ducal Palace via the Rue de La Reine before hosting a private reception at the royal place of residence. The court previously shared that the reception would take place at 6 p.m., and their families, representatives of the national authorities, and other guests would celebrate with them. Although the duo got legally married on Saturday, they’re planning on exchanging vows again next week on April 29, 2023, in a religious ceremony at the Church of Saint Trophy in Bormes-les-Mimosa, France.

The Grand Ducal Court confirmed the couple’s engagement back in November via Instagram. “Their Royal Highnesses, the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess, are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra, to Mr. Nicolas Bagory,” the caption said. The post included a photo of the future bride and groom embracing one another while Alexandra showcased her unique engagement ring: what appears to be diamonds and colorful gemstones on a gold band.

The post went on to address Bagory’s background, revealing that he was born on November 11, 1988, grew up in Brittany, studied political science and the classics, and is currently working on social and cultural endeavors. The court also revealed that the duo would be getting married in the spring of 2023, so royal wedding fans could mark their calendars. “The two families join in the happiness of the engaged couple by surrounding them with their affection,” the announcement concluded. The court continued to update the public about the royal nuptials in the months following the engagement.
