Angel Sanchez - Spring 2017

There was no shortage of breathtaking bridal moments at Angel Sanchez's spring 2017 bridal fashion week runway show. Citing inspiration from classic brides like Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly, Angel Sanchez displayed a collection of wedding dresses worthy of royalty. "This collection is very Audrey Hepburn with all the grace and femininity of '50s fashion," Sanchez shared ahead of his spring 2017 bridal show. Voluminous ball gown skirts nipped at the waist, intricate lace details, and 3-D florals were the main focus of the wedding dress collection Angel Sanchez presented Thursday morning, harking back to his 1950's fashion muses, while presenting something that felt modern and if not a bit whimsical. The designer also looked to the spring season to drive his creative outlook. "There is nothing more beautiful and delicate than the dew on a spring morning," Sanchez stated in his show notes. That dew of spring morning was best displayed in dresses featuring soft dusty blue underpinnings — a lovely call back to one of Pantone's colors of the year — topped with elegantly crafted lace (one particularly spectacular design also created an illusion high-neckline, one of our favorite fashion trends). The wedding dresses in this collection were very much a progression of Angel Sanchez's Fall 2016 bridal collection, where illusion cutouts and 3-D florals were the standout stars. Illusion sleeves dotted with pearl appliques, and cutouts adorned with leather petals made for a collection both classically timeless and elegantly modern.
