The 2010s have given us weddings of epic proportions. We had not one but two royal weddings—and that's if you're excluding all of the Hollywood royalty that tied the knot. Some of the world's most eligible bachelors like Prince William, George Clooney, and Nick Jonas were officially taken off the market. Fashion influencers like Chiara Ferragni set a new precedent for the media impact value a single wedding can have. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Gwyneth Paltrow introduced trends that phased in and out—but some will stand the test of time.
As we prepare to ring in a new decade, we've rounded up 22 of the most influential weddings from the past 10 years that will be remembered for years to come.
Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky

Although she was no longer First Daughter at the time of her nuptials, Chelsea Clinton's wedding certainly made its mark. With an approximately 400-person guest list and a former president as the FOB, security was a big priority (guests allegedly had to wear wristbands). Chelsea wore a silk organza Vera Wang gown with a draped tulle bodice and an embellished belt, and the designer was *casually* in the audience as the couple exchanged vows.
Prince William and Kate Middleton

Prince William and Kate Middleton did, in fact, get married in the past decade (we know, it feels like they've been husband and wife for a lifetime). It was the royal wedding of our generation at the time and speculators around the world couldn't help but imagine how proud the beloved, late Princess Diana would have been on that day. Kate's Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen lace wedding dress made sleeves the trend that brides everywhere raced to replicate. And let's not forget about her nearly nine-foot-long train.
Kate Moss and Jamie Hince

While some may expect a supermodel like Kate Moss to have an over-the-top wedding, the reality of her big day was much more low-key. Kate's wedding took place in a church in a little, picturesque English village. Even more laidback? Her bridesmaids wore ballet flats—not a high heel in sight. Nonetheless, the occasion was fit for a rock star and fashion royalty.
Lauren Bush and David Lauren

When Lauren Bush, the granddaughter of former President George H. W. Bush and niece of former President George W. Bush, married David Lauren, the youngest son of clothing designer Ralph Lauren, it was the event of the season. However, the couple shattered socialite norms by opting for an intimate destination wedding, planned by Soiree Telluride. It was every bit as stunning as you'd expect, with the bride and groom both outfitted by none other than Ralph Lauren, of course.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Justin and Jessica said "I do" in the Italian countryside surrounded by family and friends. The castle-like venue offered the couple and their celebrity guests privacy so the paparazzi was a non-issue, very important for a star-studded event such as this. Jessica walked down the aisle in not white, but a petal-pink custom-made Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend
September 14, 2013
Chrissy and John are possibly the world's most beloved celebrity couple, so naturally, they made our list. Their love story began in 2007 and culminated in a dreamy Lake Como wedding. Chrissy chose three Vera Wang gowns for her big day: an ivory strapless tulle skirted ball gown for the ceremony, a mermaid gown with a micro-pleated bodice and sheared organza full skirt for the reception, and finally a crimson mermaid gown for the after-party.
Poppy Delevingne and James Cook

Effortlessly cool: two words we'd use to describe Poppy Delevingne. The style star married fellow model James Cook in two weddings: The first wedding took place at London's St Pauls Church with a reception at Kensington Palace Gardens and the second was a more glamorous event in Morocco. Poppy wore a stunning, slightly boho Chanel Haute Couture gown by Karl Lagerfeld with floral appliques, a cap sleeve, and a drop waist.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
May 24, 2014
Kim Kardashian's Italian wedding to Kanye West wasn't her first go around, but it made an even bigger splash than her wedding to Kris Humphries three years prior. Flower walls? You heard them here first, and Kanye has been upping the ante ever since (he's known to shower his wife in the occasional display of roses on anniversaries and birthdays). Kim's wedding day post even broke the record for the most likes on Instagram at the time. Iconic.

Olivia, being the trendsetter that she is, had one of the most understated yet chic bridal looks. She wore a cashmere sweater on top of white shorts with a tulle skirt overlay created by Carolina Herrera. Our absolute favorite detail? Her satin royal blue Manolo Blahnik pumps, an ode to Carrie Bradshaw perhaps. The small ceremony took place in front of a super-private group of close family members and friends.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Although this union didn't last as long as we'd hoped it would, we have to mention the wedding of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt (the Hollywood royalty we talked about earlier). The couple had a nondenominational civil ceremony at Chateau Miraval in France in front of only 22 guests—yes, really. The sweetest detail had to be Angelina's silk-satin Versace dress that included a veil decorated with her children's artwork.
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin

George Clooney married British-Lebanese human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in an event-filled wedding weekend in Venice, Italy. A-listers like Cindy Crawford and Matt Damon descended upon the floating city to witness their friend tie the knot in what's now known as one of the most buzzed-about celebrity weddings of all time. The bride enlisted Oscar de la Renta to design her gown, telling Vogue, “George and I wanted a wedding that was romantic and elegant, and I can’t imagine anyone more able than Oscar to capture this mood in a dress.”
Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson

Every detail of Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson's wedding was iconic. For starters, the couple arrived at their New Orleans ceremony on white bicycles. Since riding a bicycle in a wedding gown wouldn't be practical, Solange changed out of her Stéphane Rolland pantsuit into a Humberto Leon for Kenzo gown and cape. You better believe Bey and Jay Z were there, and the celebration eventually made its way outside, where guests danced in the streets late into the night.
Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed

When Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed announced their wedding, it was a surprise to family and fans alike. Guests were invited to a "housewarming party," but after arriving at a shuttle location, they were transported to a secret ceremony site in Topanga Canyon, where Nikki and Ian exchanged vows. That begs the question: Would you be brave enough to plan a surprise wedding?

If her stunning Palm Springs wedding was any indication, Whitney Port has come a long way since her days on MTV's The Hills. Whitney had a heavy hand in the details of her big day, collaborating with vendors to design everything from her high-low lace appliqué dress to her stationary. The ceremony had every bride's dream backdrop, a combination of floral and tropical vibes.
Ciara and Russell Wilson
July 6, 2016
Ciara and NFL quarterback Russell Wilson married at the Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England. The famous venue, a popular choice for many British soccer stars' as well, has also been used as a location for various television and movie productions including Doctor Who and Sherlock Holmes. Ciara's custom Roberto Cavalli wedding dress had bell sleeves (bell sleeves!) and was adorned with lace.
Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli

There wasn't a party in the past decade more fun than Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli's. The Orange Is the New Black star and The Handmaid’s Tale writer got married in a colorful Palm Springs wedding. Rainbow confetti and glitter fell from the sky in a truly magical fashion. Samira even opened up to Brides saying she “wanted it to be about celebration and funfetti cake!” The brides both wore custom designs by Christian Siriano.

When an influencer gets married, it's bound to make headlines. Hannah Bronfman, who is a DJ in addition to her day job as a total girl boss, married beau Brendan Fallis in a four-day extravaganza in Marrakech, Morocco. Multiple events took place, including a Moroccan-themed dinner and a desert dance party. Hannah wore around eight different showstopping outfits, but none more special than her white custom Vera Wang gown.
Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian

This was the decade of Serena Williams—powerhouse athlete, superstar mom, and all-around inspiring human being. The tennis champion and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian got hitched in New Orleans in front of a slew of A-list friends. Serena wore a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown, the same designer as fellow queen Kate Middleton, and $3.5 million-worth of XIV Karats jewelry. Same.

We've reached our second royal wedding of the decade! A handful of records were broken on the day of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding. According to Nielsen, almost 30 million people in the U.S. tuned in to watch and over 3 million social media users tweeted about the royal wedding that day alone. The bulk of the wedding cost (about $42 million, by the way) went toward security. Needless to say, it was the event heard and seen around the world.

Chiara Ferragni may not be a household name, but she has the social media reach to prove otherwise. The fashion blogger/mogul and her longtime love Fedez, a rapper and songwriter, hosted an Italian wedding even the royal family would phone home about. The couple customized a jumbo jet to transport their friends and family for the weekend, and Chiara wore two designer ensembles: Prada for the rehearsal dinner and Dior for the big day. Sources even reported that the wedding generated a media impact value of $36 million.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk
September 29, 2018
Gwyneth Paltrow married Brad Falchuk in a surprise wedding in the Hamptons and shared details of the day on her website Goop. An alfresco reception under a canopy of lights, an ethereal lace Valentino gown—it all sounded so perfect. It was a small affair with only 70 guests in attendance, but come on, it's Gwyneth! Is anything she does *not* influential?

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's wedding in India was lavish, to say the least. It began with the Mehendi ceremony and sangeet, described as one big dance party. Then two more ceremonies followed, one Christian ceremony presided over by Jonas’s pastor dad and the Hindu ceremony which took place at a stunning Indian palace. Finally, everyone jetted off to New Delhi for a glitzy reception. Now, the couple is reportedly teaming up with Amazon Studios for a series inspired by their wedding festivities.
