Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first joint public appearance since moving to Canada earlier this year looking happy as ever. On March 5, the Duke and Duchess attended The Endeavour Fund Awards at Mansion House in London and despite all the excitement over their arrival outside, an even more exciting surprise was awaiting inside.
While receiving his Endeavour Fund Award for Recognising Achievement, veteran Danny Holland called his girlfriend up to the stage where he got down on one knee. Meghan, Harry, and the rest of the audience cheered them on with rounds of applause.
The Duchess, an apparent romantic like the rest of us, was particularly thrilled. She was beaming with elation (are those tears welling up we see?!) as the newly engaged couple embraced each other. As for Harry, he couldn't wipe that smile off his face.
After the sweet moment, Megan took the stage to present an award for Celebrating Excellence. Then it was Harry's turn to share a few words. "The Endeavour Fund is not just about recovery, it’s about discovering a new way of living – finding a new sense of purpose and you have most definitely found that," he said.
The Duke and Duchess will officially step down from their royal roles on March 31. "We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen," they wrote on social media back in January. They will be balancing their time between the United Kingdom and Canada.
