A lot has happened in the two years since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they were engaged: They got married, the American actress became literal royalty and they welcomed a son! And now, two years to the day since the royal couple shared their engagement news, they are celebrating with a never-before-seen photo on Instagram.
Sussex Royal, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's official Instagram account shared three photos representing the couple's most important milestones together. The first is a shot of the couple hand-in-hand during their official engagement announcement, while the third shows the pair holding the newest addition to their family, Archie.
However, it's the second photo that we're obsessed with. The never-before-seen picture gives a candid look at the newlyweds just moments after they said 'I do.' With their hands around each other, Prince Harry flashes a contagious smile while Markle leans over and laughs. The caption reads, "On this day, two years ago: 27th of November 2017, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the news of their engagement, later becoming Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex! They have since celebrated their wedding anniversary and welcomed their son, Archie, into the world."
Seeing Markle smile on her wedding day, we can't help but reminisce on their 2018 royal wedding! Her simple boatneck gown by Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy is proving to be a timeless look and we're still wishing we could make a bridal messy bun look just as chic.
Of course, their engagement photo is giving us all the feels as well. Two years ago, Markle debuted an engagement ring with a very special meaning. Her three-stone diamond ring features a center stone from Botswana set between two diamonds from Princess Diana's collection. It was also later revealed that the prince proposed over a homecooked meal—meaning the engagement chicken actually works.
Even though their royal wedding has come and gone, at least we have another one to look forward to in 2020! Prince Harry's cousin, Princess Beatrice announced her engagement to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in September.
