March 9 2020: Love at First Sight

Megan and Colson first crossed paths on the set of Midnight in the Switchgrass, which began filming in March 2020. According to Megan, her connection with the musician was almost instantaneous—and powerful. “I could feel that some wild sh*t was going to happen to me from that meeting, but I wasn’t yet sure what. I just felt it like, deep in my soul,” she told director Randall Emmett and his wife, Lala Kent, on their shared podcast, “Give Them Lala ... With Randall.”

Megan later elaborated on their chemistry to Nylon in November. “I looked into his eyes [and] I felt the most pristine, most gentle, most pure spirit,” she says. “My heart shattered immediately, and I just knew that I was f*cked.”

The feeling was mutual for Colson, who reportedly explained to Howard Stern several months prior, "I didn't know what [true love] was until me and her made eye contact. That's when I was like, 'Whoa.'"

May 16, 2020: The Rumor Mill Churns

Romantic buzz first started swirling around the two in May, after photos obtained by the Daily Mail surfaced of Megan waiting for takeout in the passenger side of the performer’s Aston Martin.

May 20, 2020: Getting Steamy

The chemistry between Megan and MGK became plenty apparent to the world later that month with the release of the guitar slinger’s video for “Bloody Valentine"—which featured none other than his costar. Not only did the Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen actress appear in her skivvies for the mini-film, but she also got close enough to kiss her new beau, sending fans abuzz. 

May 25 2020: The ‘L’ Word

Just two months after first laying eyes on each other, Megan uttered three all-too-important words that would take the couple's relationship to the next level. “She said I love you one year ago today,” MGK later revealed via Twitter on the one-year anniversary of the event.

June 15, 2020: Life Imitates Art

By mid-June, there was no hiding their romance from prying eyes: The pair were spotted locking lips after leaving a bar in Los Angeles on June 14. Colson took to the web the following day to eliminate any doubts about who his heart belonged to, declaring himself officially off the market. “I’m calling you girlfriend, what the f*ck,” he tweeted. “Life imitated art on that one.”

July 2020: Getting the Gang Back Together

By July, production on their shared film, which was halted due to COVID-19, had resumed, and its leads returned to work as a bonafide couple—evident in the adorable group photo director Randall shared to Instagram. “Grateful to be back in #puertorico🇵🇷 filming with this amazing cast!” he raved. “Adapting to this new world! All quarantined together!”

July 28, 2020: Getting Lovey Dovey

On July 28, the rapper showed off his softer side with a sweet Instagram tribute to the Jennifer’s Body star, who posed alongside him for a sweet mirror selfie. “Waited for eternity to find you again,” he captioned a shot of the pair sticking out their tongues.

August 5, 2020: Breaking the Internet

One month later, Megan returned the favor with a mirror selfie of her own that showed her standing next to a shirtless Colson in a bikini top. “Achingly Beautiful Boy," she gushed. "My heart is yours."

September 23, 2020: Opening Up

Despite previously making his mind up against love, Megan opened Machine Gun Kelly up to the possibility. "After I made the big chunk of the album [Tickets to My Downfall], I did fall in love for the first time," he reportedly told Howard Stern in September. "That was my first experience with being open to love and stuff like that. I definitely wasn't set up to believe that that's something that could ever exist."

September 24, 2020: Swimming with Sharks

Though the twosome had been an item for months by September, the “My Ex’s Best Friend” singer revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that their first official date was on a rooftop in Los Angeles. “This is our first date,” he explained of a photo from September 24, 2020. “That’s her, climbing down off of a dangerous, three-story balcony. Um, in heels,” he added.

According to the actor, their second date was even more adventurous. “She’s very in tune with the Earth, and I’m scared of sharks—so we went swimming with sharks,” he said. “I committed, and we swam with sharks… There was nobody else but me and her.”

September 25, 2020: A Permanent Show of Affection

Fans heard a familiar voice on the interludes found on Machine Gun Kelly’s fifth studio album, released on September 25, 2020. “You just got my initials tattooed on you. I got your nickname tattooed on me,” shared on a track titled “Banyan Tree.”

September 29, 2020: Video Vixen

Megan reprised her role as a video vixen for Colson’s song “Drunk Face,” the footage of which was released just days after the album’s drop. In it, the Transformers alum can be seen painting her man’s nails, boarding a plane alongside him, and, of course, sharing a smooch with the singer.

November 22, 2020: Red Carpet Official

There comes a time in every Hollywood couple’s relationship when they make their red carpet debut. For the model and the songwriter, that time came on November 22, when they posed together for the paparazzi at the 2020 American Music Awards. That wasn’t all they debuted, either: Megan’s strapless hunter green Azzi & Osta top revealed some new ink on her collarbone reading “el pistolero”—the Spanish term for “the gunman.”

October 23, 2020: Music Inspiration

MGK gushed to NME about their union in October, crediting his other half with helping him to become his best self. “‘Tickets is essentially my diary because I did fall in love during the making of this record, and I did become a better person," he told the publication.

November 17, 2020: Some Like It Hot

Megan shared her own thoughts about their union in November. “Loving him is like being in love with a tsunami or a forest fire,” she explained to Nylon of her boyfriend. “The intensity of merging with him is just overwhelming, and the threat it poses is so powerful but so beautiful that you have no choice to surrender with reverence and with gratitude.”

The Dirt star rang in the New Year with a performance in the middle of Time Square, after which he shared an adorable moment with his girlfriend that was captured by photogs.

Jan 27, 2021: Wedding Bells?

An NYC outing for Machine Gun Kelly’s Saturday Night Live rehearsals quickly became a media firestorm when Megan was photographed with an oversized sparkler on her ring finger. Though the Transformers alum shut down the rumors the following day with a closer look at the ring—a larger silver piece with the words “F*ck You” via Instagram Stories—a source revealed to ET in February that marriage isn’t out of the question for the two superstars.

“An engagement could be in Megan Fox and MGK's future and same with having kids together," the source said. "MGK definitely wants both of those things, but Megan is a little hesitant right now. In the meantime, they are constantly laughing together and always have the best time.”

February 14, 2021: Bloody Valentines

The actors brought a whole new meaning to the term “Bloody Valentine” when Colson revealed that he wears the mother of three’s DNA in a necklace. “I wear your blood around my neck,” he wrote beneath a series of photos of the couple. He later told Ellen that the spherical necklace had been a gift from his girlfriend early on in their romance. “She was going out to Bulgaria, so I was kind of freaking out, like, ‘You’re gonna leave and I can’t even come see you.’ Some people give, like, a handkerchief to their partner or whatever. She gave me her DNA.”

Megan, for her part, had her own romantic prose for her other half, sharing a series of pictures with him to Instagram writing, “There goes my heart manifest outside of my body draped in the towering silhouette of a most unusually handsome boy… The journey will likely be perilous but there is no destination without him.”

May 23, 2021: Red Carpet PDA

The musician took home his first major music awards—Top Rock Artist and Top Rock Album—at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards on May 23. “To my twin soul,” who showed me love,” he thanked her from the stage. Not only was his significant other there to cheer him on from the crowd, but the two also showed some major PDA on the red carpet hours prior, courtesy of Megan’s steamy Mugler dress and MGK’s painted tongue.

May 27, 2021: Matchy, Matchy

The sexy pair continued their rounds on the red carpet circuit just days later, attending the iHeart Radio Music Awards together in coordinating ensembles—her in a bubblegum pink satin jumpsuit and him in a white-and-silver tux with complementary pink detailing. 

October 11, 2021: A Shared Cover

In Oct. 2021, the couple appeared together on the cover of British GQ Style, and gave fans some insight into how they first met. While their love story officially started on the set of Midnight In The Switchgrass, the pair actually encountered each other a few years prior at a party in Los Angeles. Even though MGK and Megan were introduced at the party, neither can recall actually seeing the other person’s face.

“I don’t remember your face... And I definitely would have remembered his face,” Megan told the publication. “I just remember this tall, blond, ghostly creature and I looked up and I was like, ‘You smell like weed.’ He looked down at me and he was like, ‘I am weed.’ Then, I swear to God, he disappeared like a ninja in a smoke bomb.”

The couple also tested their knowledge of each other in a video for the cover, with MGK attempting to name each of Megan’s tattoos and the actress perfectly rattling off the musician’s entire astrological chart.

Jan 12, 2022: Officially Engaged!

After just under two years of dating, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram. Fox posted an adorable video of the moment featuring a candlelit setup under a banyan tree. In fact, according to MGK, the self-described twin flames got engaged "beneath the same branches we fell in love under."

The engagement ring itself featured two stones: a diamond and an emerald, which hold a special meaning for the couple. "I know the tradition is one ring, but I designed it with Stephen Webster to be two: the emerald (her birth stone) and the diamond (my birth stone) set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love," wrote Kelly.
