Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly made it official. MGK (born Colson Baker) put a ring on it! And the sparkler is so them—mysterious, unique, and beautiful to look at.
On Wednesday night, the twin flames practically broke Instagram with their romantic engagement announcement—a moment we'd all been anticipating for months. Megan posted a sweet video of the moment when Baker got down on one knee. She joined him on her knees as he put the ring on her finger before her hands flew to her head in disbelief. The two then embraced and shared a kiss.
"In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree," she wrote in her caption. "We asked for magic. We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time."
She continued: "Unaware of the work and sacrifices the relationship would require from us but intoxicated off of the love. And the karma. Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him. And just as in every lifetime, before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes. …and then we drank each other’s blood 1.11.22 ✨"
MGK also posted his own Instagram giving us a close-up look of the stunning two-stone ring, revealing the sentimental meanings behind the design, which he worked closely with well-known jeweler Stephen Webster to create. The dual jewels represent both of their birthstones—emerald for Megan and diamond for MGK. The exquisite gems are set in double white gold, diamond-encrusted bands that Baker described as "magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love."
Webster spoke to Vogue about the ring and Baker's romanticism. "He wanted something that was completely original and meaningful to both Megan and himself," Webster told the publication. "He fed me lots of material in an almost lyrical form. I used this to create the two rings which become one. I used magnets embedded in the gold to attract the two rings together when worn as one. Possibly the most romantic story I have had to work with."
SVP of Merchandising and Retail at Brilliant Earth, Kathryn Money, tells us that pear-shaped diamond appears to be four to five carats, while the emerald jewel is around four to four and a half carats, adding that depending on the stones' quality and specific characteristics, the ring is estimated to have cost Baker around $300,000 to $400,000.
"Sought after for their added sparkle and symbolic meaning, Toi et Moi, or 'You and Me,' rings feature two gemstones set side by side, designed to symbolize two souls becoming one—perfect for Megan," says Money. "Fancy-shaped diamonds such as the pear, emerald, oval and radiant are also one of the hottest engagement ring trends for 2022 that is here to stay."
With celebrities like Ariana Grande and Emily Ratajkowski also sporting the Toi et Moi ring, Money predicts that this style will be popular for years to come.
And just like the gems, two souls have become one. Congratulations to the "star-crossed lovers," Megan Fox and her "future baby daddy" (a.k.a. Weed).
