With a fresh new year ahead of us (thank goodness) there’s really so much to look forward to. And, if you need a bit of good news to start, 2021 will be much better for your love life than 2020 was.
As for Aries, Cancer, Leo, Virgo—they will gain the greatest understanding of what has been holding them back from developing deeper partnerships, which gives them the ability to finally attract the type of person that has so far failed to show up in their lives.
Early on, Venus conjuncts in March, so it will be a dreamy kind of period with lots of sudden sparks and feelings of “this is it!”.
As Jupiter moves into Pisces in May, there's more of that feel-good/compassionate energy that we've all been craving, and a chance for many to meet a potential partner through volunteering or just sharing your talents with others.
Scorpio, Capricorn, Sagittarius, and Libra will have some amazing moments of clarity while gaining the best chance to bring a deeper, more meaningful love into their lives and enhance current relationships.
Another prime time for love and deep passion is when Mars enters Scorpio in the fall, and we get real serious about loyalty and commitment and determined to find the right person to deeply connect with.
As Mars squares Saturn and opposes Uranus mid-November, jealousy can also rear its ugly head and make sure that your union is based on values—not just physical intimacy. But the positive side to all this is engagements and fearless declarations of love can be made now!
Venus does retrograde this year beginning December 19th and it's been said that it’s not the best time for weddings. So, if you want winter nuptials, consider working around the last three weeks of the year. If you can't or don't want to, consult a professional astrologer to find the optimum day/time to tie the knot during that period. You always want to stack the deck in your favor when it comes to working around retrogrades!
Looking ahead, it looks like the year will have heavy action in mainly 4 signs—Taurus, Aquarius, Gemini, and Pisces—who will experience the greatest changes and possibilities for a new lifestyle, along with confidence which creates a new way of experiencing partnerships.
What's specifically in store for your love life in 2021? Here’s what expert astrologer, Suzie Kerr Wright, has to say about your new year love forecast.

Aries (March 21-April 20)
The year starts out with frustration around relationships. Check your expectations of yourself—which will show you where you may not be giving others enough leeway to be themselves. March could turn an acquaintance into a friend with benefits as your social life improves dramatically. When Mercury turns retrograde in your relationship house in September, you may see the return of a past love looking to rekindle the flame. By the holidays you could be ensconced in a super intense love affair. If you're already in a committed relationship all year long, this year will deepen your understanding of how to support your partner in a totally different way.
Taurus (April 21-May 20)
Your attraction factor is super strong at the start of the year, with so much activity by planets in your sign. You'll have little patience for anyone who doesn't live up to your exacting expectations, though. Through March, just plan on dating here and there. But you'll definitely have your pick of suitors! March brings dreamy energy when Venus in Pisces conjuncts Neptune and you could find yourself caught up in a romantic fantasy. The test of the relationship will come when Pluto retrogrades in April, giving you a clear view of what's going on. If it's good, keep going, but if you think you see red flags, get out now. Jupiter in Pisces this May could bring this fantasy, if it's on solid ground, to the next level! If this is an office romance, don't expect it to stay quiet past July. Your ruling planet retrogrades on December 19 which gives you a chance to look back at how you've handled relationships all year.
Gemini (May 21-June 20)
Geminis will be doing their usual flirting and flitting throughout most of the year with a couple of exceptions. The potential for a second chance romance happens in May, and a Solar Eclipse in your sign on July 10 has you questioning everything about this relationship. It takes two, so keeping score of who's done what to who is not going to sit very well. Rather than keeping a list of wrongdoings, how about looking at the bigger picture? Does this person share your values? What are their actions showing you? Avoid making excuses for their inconsistencies and that may help you realize whether to continue. The Solar Eclipse of December 4 shines a light on your relationships and helps you see the real beauty in your partner.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Get ready for a big year in relationships! You've been doing a lot of personal growth work when it comes to figuring out what you want/need from a partner and 2021 will show you just how far you've come. Through may you might be just hanging out, seeing where things go, or just not super interested in anyone, but by May all bets are off. You'll want to get serious and move forward with your current partner, talking about marriage, buying a home, and having children with a sense of purpose and clarity. You know what you want—are they on board? Single Cancers can expect to find love in the latter half of the year as your idea of a partner becomes crystal clear. You'll find you're attracting potential mates who are more mature, capable, and independent than you had in the past. This keeps you more open to dating someone you would not typically have been interested in, and in October, taking a chance on this unique individual could bring you a great love that will go the distance!
Leo (July 23-August 22)
With so much energy in your 7th house of relationships, you can't help but have a year of ups and downs, with new people coming into your life. Will “the one” show up? It’s hard to say, but you won't be short of admirers and those who want to partner with you in business, romance, or both! The highlight will be in July when a romantic vacation gives you goosebumps—the love is real! Saturn and Jupiter will both be retrograde between June 20 and October 10 so you'll have lots of chances to show your partner what real romance and tenderness can feel like and nurture this relationship. Your heart is open, but you won't be a doormat either. There may be an ex you finally realize is not someone you care to stay friends with and you'll be ready to let them go. This can be a surprising year for Leos so remain open and willing to accept others for exactly who they show you they are.
Virgo (August 23-September 22)
Your best chance for love and romance comes in March when Venus the planet of love conjuncts dreamy Pisces in your 7th house of partnerships. You feel super connected to everyone you meet now, but one person, in particular, may rise to the top of the list and things will just seem to flow effortlessly as you spent more and more time together. Exploring new territory, literally or virtually, will set you in the right place at the right time for some magical encounters now. When Jupiter retrogrades in June, you may find yourself attracted to someone you previously met but didn't have much interest in at the time. Give them another chance to impress you with their kindness. Allow someone to love you the way they can, don't try to control this, Virgo. If the opposite is true and you're feeling it's time to end a partnership, work toward a gentle, peaceful resolution that is a win/win for both of you. You may also be one of the signs that hears from a past partner this year. In this case, don't be snowed by their attempts to sugar coat or blame you for their transgressions. Best not to engage in any back and forth with them — just get the closure you need and move on again. Overall, 2021 for Virgo can be a life-changing year for love!
Libra (September 23-October 22)
Your year in love is about playing the field! While you're a natural flirt, what you're always looking for in your heart is your one true love. This year, if you don't have that, you'll be fine. If you are in a relationship, it will feel more like a friendship than a deep, intense romance. It's all good. Adventure and fun are what's going to keep this year moving. You may have more than one person you become enamored with in the early part of the year and end up by summer trying to make a clear-cut decision about who to commit to, but don't expect that decision to last. You'll want to be open and transparent if you are dating more than one person or throughout the year, you may find yourself getting “caught” even if you didn't mean any harm. This is not the year to play with others' affections. Breaking up with someone on a Mercury retrograde this year is not advised, as things we do during retrogrades can sometimes come back to haunt us. Mercury is in air signs all year, which you are. So the retrogrades will affect you more than others. By the end of the year, you'll be ready to settle down and either let them all go, or make a solid commitment-probably close to your birthday in October. Keep it light and breezy, get to know potential partners slowly, and enjoy your freedom!
Scorpio (October 23-November 21)
It may seem that for a while everything is working against you when it comes to finding that deep, lasting connection. But it's really just Uranus in your opposite sign trying to show you that you can't “own” others. Scorpios are intense, and as much as you love your own freedom, sometimes you can smother your partners. This year you'll learn the value of “live and let live” as those who pass through your life enrich it deeply, but may be a little too aloof for your liking. If you let others do their own thing, they'll show you who they are and you'll be able to make a better choice about who you want to invest time in vs struggling to figure it out every minute you're with them. This is a big change for Scorpios. As you pass through 2021 dating here and there, crushing on a couple of them, by the end of the summer you'll be right where you need to be and ready to accept a new, lasting relationship into your life. This could be the year. But it'll take practice and patience.
Sagittarius (November 22-December 21)
Things aren't always one way or the other, and this year you learn more about living in those “grey” areas of life. If you've been waiting to purchase a home, start a business or fulfill a heart's desire but have been waiting for “the one” to do it with, this is the year to do it alone. That doesn't mean you'll be alone for 2021, just that it's time to stop waiting. Even if you are married or in an otherwise committed relationship, do the thing you've been wanting to do. Your year will be dotted with potential relationships, one person, in particular, keeps showing back up though. Maybe they're waiting to see if you're able to fulfill your own dreams before they hitch their life to yours. Or are you pushing them away, afraid to give up any of your precious freedom? You don't have to sacrifice for the right one. Basically do your own thing in 2021—live the dream you have for yourself, and most important, create emotional room for an equal partner to share it. The right one will want the same things you do or at least they'll appreciate them.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Capricorns in 2021 will have a chance to open up to their more spontaneous, romantic self. Typically the workaholic, self-driven, island unto themselves, this year you get to feel a lot of new feels. Part of this breath of fresh air comes from the trine from Uranus in Taurus. This energy in your 5th house of romance and creativity has been pushing you to bring out your more playful side, urging you to try exciting new adventures in self-expression. Capricorns will also be cycling through a few old friends now and it may be time to cut loose an ex that stays in touch but leaves you feeling drained after you speak with them. Get clear on what you'd like from them -is it an apology? Maybe there's something further you need to express to them or you may need to make amends. Just do it, and kindly let them go. This is a solid year for dating and lots of laughs, experimenting sexually, freeing your spirit, and looking forward to meeting a potential mate through a close friend by fall. This should not be a boring year for Capricorns by any stretch. Times to engage with potential mates: May, August, October.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
This should be a spectacular year for Aquarians in regards to love. Your 5th house of romance sees a lot of action with Mars and Mercury bouncing around in and out of super sociable Gemini in harmony with your Sun. Saturn's oppositions to your ruling planet three times this year can bring some unexpected news, but you'll be fully supported. This means ups and downs with others, but mostly positive encounters if you stay flexible. Your 7th house gets some major action as well with Mars in Leo this summer. If you’re in a relationship already, you'll easily be able to see and build a future together as a team. Single Aquarians will have plenty of offers for dates with Jupiter in your sign most of the year. Mercury's retrogrades are all in-air signs and since you're one, you'll feel them the most. Use these times to close out old chapters of your life. You have a super memory, and it's great to be sentimental, however, if you're allowing past hurts to interfere with your current status in life, it's time to stop holding space for that pain, and allow true joy to flow. Look for amazing opportunities all throughout the year to find a perfect match or solidify your future with your current partner.
Pisces (February 19-March 20)
Are you ready, Pisces? Expect the unexpected. Actually, don't expect anything because we know expectations are just premeditated resentments, right? It's a good thing you are a go-with-the-flow person to begin with. This year more than ever will teach you about how important it is to have zero preconceived notions about others. Your potential for love in 2021 lies with your ability to just be genuinely curious about others. There's a significant romance potential as long as you just radiate your inner beauty and compassion. Literally, that's all you need to do this year. If you're in a relationship, you'll find your mate more complimentary—they won't know what it is that's changed, but they'll notice a difference in that your insides are matching your outsides. Stand in this confidence, and if you've been the person who's always been the caretaker for others, you'll find stronger potential partners now. It's time to receive.
