Looks like Lindsey Vonn is swapping her gold medals for a new accessory: an engagement ring! The Olympic skier is reportedly engaged to her boyfriend P.K. Subban, a professional ice hockey player.
On Friday, Subban's rep confirmed the exciting relationship milestone to E! News, with Vonn later sharing the news on Instagram. She captioned the sweet video with her fiancé, "I said YES!!! 💍❤️Can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this crazy/kind/handsome/hyper/giving man."
The couple attended MTV's Video Music Awards show on Monday and spilled all the details on Subban's proposal and Vonn's emerald engagement ring. The New Jersey Devils defenseman revealed to ET that he had the emerald shipped from Colombia. "I’m not a big diamond jewelry kind of guy," he shared. “My birthstone is an emerald, her favorite color is green, so I figured that it was only fitting to at least start the conversation there. I think she wants to keep that."
Vonn quickly chimed in saying, “I’m not gonna change it. It’s perfect!”
As for the proposal, the skier was completely shocked when her man got down on one knee. But Subban knew she was "the one" for a while. “I knew a long time ago that I was going to get engaged to Lindsey and obviously eventually get married but nothing comes before its time and with our schedule, it’s tough, to be honest. As soon as we got engaged, she had to leave 24 hours later,” he added. “So, it’s tough with our schedule too, but we made it work and I wanted to make sure I got it done before training camp in the season, so we could just transition and just have fun.”
The couple has been dating for over a year and made their red carpet debut at the 2018 CMT Music Awards. Vonn and Sabbon even posed for the cover of Sports Illustrated's Fashionable 50 issue last summer, with the publication labeling them as "the perfect match." Since then, they've documented their loving relationship on social media and walked several red carpets together.
This will mark the second marriage for Vonn, who was previously married to fellow Olympic skier Thomas Vonn from 2007-2011.
