Actress Lily Collins Is Engaged to Director Charlie McDowell

Lily Collins has found her forever! The actress announced on Friday (Sept. 25) that she is engaged to boyfriend, film director Charlie McDowell and we can't help but smile at the adorable proposal photos.

McDowell chose to pop the question in the desert—a popular proposal location among celebrities these days! "I’ve been waiting my lifetime for you and I can’t wait to spend our lifetime together...," Collins wrote on Instagram, sharing photos with her husband-to-be with a classic ring selfie.

As for the ring? McDowell presented his fiancée with a unique pink rock—a choice we never would have predicted, but love nonetheless! “Lily Collins' beautiful engagement ring appears to be a 2-3-carat morganite center stone, set in a diamond halo with a brushed yellow gold setting," explains Andrew Brown, CEO of WP Diamonds. Based on his expertise, he predicts a ring of this caliber only set back McDowell around $4,000.

While we love Collins's ring selfie, the one photo that brings us the most joy is of her smiling widely and proudly showing off her new accessory. McDowell shared the lovingly snap to his Instagram, saying, "In a time of uncertainty and darkness you have illuminated my life. I will forever cherish my adventure with you." Now, could he have possibly said sweeter words than that?!

And like us, not even Hollywood's finest could contain their excitement for the pair. Fellow actress Ashley Tisdale commented, "Congrats!!!" while singer Ciara left, "Soooo happy for you! Love you Li Li boo! What a special day."

The engagement comes slightly over a year since the pair was first linked romantically. Rumors swirled of a potential relationship in July of 2019 and Collins went Instagram-official with their love the following month.
