• Laura Dorwart is a journalist and copywriter with more than six years of experience.
• Laura's work has appeared in a range of outlets, including Playboy, The Guardian, Upworthy, and The New York Times.
• She has a background in theatre, and previously served as the managing editor of the University of California, San Diego's Theatre Forum for more than five years.
Laura began her career as an associate editor at United Methodist Publishing House before becoming a freelance journalist. Since then, she has contributed to Forbes, Vice and Self, among other outlets. She previously worked as a graduate teaching assistant at her alma mater, the University of California at San Diego.
Laura has a Bachelor of Arts in theatre and writing from Barnard College, a PhD from the University of California, San Diego and an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Antioch University, Los Angeles. She was the 2017-2018 Fletcher Jones Fellow at UC San Diego, where her research focused on disability studies, marginalized girlhoods, and media/cultural representations of mental illness.
