Instead of seeking inspiration from fashion show runways, Lana Del Rey scoured the wedding aisle to find her latest award show look. After attending the wedding of her best friend, Victoria Kofoed, the “Summertime Sadness” singer copied the bride’s outfit, a yellow Zimmermann wedding dress, for Billboard’s Women in Music event on March 1, 2023. At the event, Del Rey accepted the visionary award to celebrate her 14-year career while rocking the vibrant getup, which featured a paisley print, sheer detailing, floral appliqués, a high neckline, and a midi length.

The ensemble costs $3,150 on Saks Fifth Avenue’s website. To give it her own personal spin, the musician paired the attire with a yellow belt and gold sandals. This would be the perfect wedding dress for nontraditional brides who want to rethink the typical white gown. The pop of color also makes it a great addition to spring or summer nuptials, and the romantic fabric lends itself well to garden fêtes or backyard bashes. The high neckline is also reminiscent of a retro 1950s gown, so it’s also fitting for vintage-inspired brides.

Del Rey posted about the award show look on her private Instagram account on March 6, 2023. The artists uploaded a side-by-side photo, showing an image of her best friend wearing the attire on her wedding day beside a snap of herself posing at the music event. “I promised my Bestie, that if I got to wear the same dress she wore for her wedding that I would do a side-by-side,” her caption says. “I couldn't quite do her justice, but I needed an excuse to post her beautiful wedding pictures anyways. Congratulations, Vic." In her caption, she also included a line from her poem “What Happened When I Left You,” which is featured in her book and spoken-word album, Violent Bent Backwards Over the Grass. “In Zimmermann with sandals, on one summer dress to choose,” she continues, quoting her poem.

At the Billboard gathering, Olivia Rodrigo presented the visionary award to Del Rey. “I don’t exactly have a long-term vision at all, but if you were curious, I am very, very happy,” Del Rey said in her acceptance speech. “When I released my first album 14 years ago, the waters were not quite as warm. I’m really happy for everyone who feels like it’s a wonderful time in the culture to be themselves and express themselves. It didn’t feel that way in 2008.”

Del Rey has recently received a lot of speculation regarding her own relationship status. In July of 2022, fellow singer Jack Donoghue posted an Instagram photo with the “Doin’ Time” singer, which fueled dating rumors. The photo has since been deleted, but the caption originally said “Family visit.” According to the Daily Mail, a source close to Donoghue told the publication that the two of them “seem really into each other.” “You might not believe this, but Jack is really romantic,” the insider revealed. “He’s totally crazy about Lana. While she was away for a few days, he was playing her songs really loud, making sure the sound system was good enough. Jack is all dark and edgy and seems anti-everything, but underneath all that, he’s actually a good-looking guy, an all-American hunk. He’s kind of like this troubled hot guy, someone who maybe played football in high school but then dropped out to chase his demons.”

The two were first spotted together in May of 2022 at Donoghue’s 33rd birthday party in Los Angeles. Three months before that, the singer shared a clip taken at a monster truck race, and Del Rey referred to him as “babe,” according to Glamour. Although neither of them have confirmed their relationship, they are certainly giving fans something to talk about. Donoghue has been previously linked to Courtney Love, while Del Rey has had past relationships with Clayton Jones, Sean “Sticks” Larkin, G-Eazy, Francesco Carrozzini, and Barrie-James O’Neill.
