Princess Diana's Niece, Lady Amelia Spencer, is Engaged

Lady Amelia Spencer, niece of the late Princess Diana and younger sister to Lady Kitty Spencer, is engaged to her longtime boyfriend and real estate agent Greg Mallett.

After dating for 11 (!!!) years, Mallett popped the question to the royal relative on Wednesday, July 22. He shared the news on Instagram a few days after the proposal plus, the announcement comes a few days shy of Princess Diana's wedding anniversary with Prince Charles.

"So this was the best day of my life," Mallett wrote on Instagram. "22nd of July 2020, I asked the love of my life to spend the rest of her life with me and she said YES. Couldn’t be happier and I love you with all my heart."

Based on the post, the engagement occurred at the Clouds Estate, a five-star hotel in South Africa, which is less than an hour's drive from the University of Cape Town where the couple first met over a decade ago. "Amelia’s engagement ring features what appears to be an estimated 2-2.5 carat oval diamond surrounded by a glittering halo and set on a delicate, diamond-adorned platinum or white gold band," describes Kathryn Money, senior vice president of merchandising and retail expansion for Brilliant Earth. " Depending on the quality and specific characteristics of the center gemstone, we estimate the ring’s cost is between $20,000-40,000."

Lady Amelia's father Earl Spencer (Princess Diana's brother) took to Twitter to share the news of his daughter's engagement, writing, "So happy for my daughter, Amelia, engaged to her boyfriend of 11 years, Greg - it’s wonderful to hear them both so excited about their future. Sending them both love, and every good wish for their life together. I love that Greg asked my blessing before proposing. Very sweet."

Luckily, Lady Amelia won't be wedding planning alone! Her sister, Lady Kitty Spencer, announced her engagement to South African millionaire Michael Lewis. Perhaps both sisters will don the Spencer tiara on their wedding days just like their royal aunt did on hers!
