What to Look for When Shopping for Lab-Grown Diamond Necklaces
When shopping for a lab-grown diamond necklace, quality and certification of said quality is key. “Good-quality lab-grown diamonds look exactly the same as natural diamonds,” explains Yuvi Alpert, Founder of Noémie. Quality will determine how much a diamond sparkles, and you, of course, want that dazzling shimmer effect.
With quality in mind, Alpert says it is “vital” that lab-grown jewelry comes with a diamond certification card such as a IGI or GIA certificate “to know precisely the quality and type of diamond.”
What types of diamond necklaces can you wear with a wedding dress?
When choosing a diamond necklace for your wedding day, Alpert suggests “a necklace you would continue to wear daily and not only on your wedding day.” Alpert also says it is ideal to have your wedding dress picked out before choosing a necklace “so that you feel comfortable with where the necklace sits on the neckline” of your dress.
For wedding dresses with a straighter neckline, Alpert recommends “a shorter, more delicate necklace.” If your dress has a sweetheart neckline, Alpert says a classic pendant can add “just enough sparkle.” Wedding dresses with a scoop neckline give you more options in terms of necklace style and are great for necklaces that make a statement.
Are lab-grown diamonds less expensive than natural diamonds?
Lab-grown diamonds are typically less expensive compared to natural diamonds. The reason for this comes down to the source and how they are made. “Lab-grown diamonds are created using advanced science rather than found and mined in the earth,” explains Alpert. “They are the same chemical makeup as mined diamonds and share all of the physical and chemical properties of diamonds found in the earth,” Alpert adds. Because a lab-grown diamond is made in a lab, “it’s a lot quicker to produce than a natural diamond, which is a big reason the price is significantly lower.”
How do you layer diamond necklaces?
When it comes to laying diamond necklaces, Alpert says “there are no rules.” That being said, if you wish to have a layered effect with your jewels on your big day, choosing adjustable necklaces is key. That will help ensure that each necklace is the proper length and spaced out from the others.
