But the two have actually been friends for a long time—they're neighbors who live in the same gated community in Calabasas, California, and they were spotted spending time together several times in 2017 and 2018. The first connection between Travis and the Kardashian family came in 2006 when Travis met Kim Kardashian. He later admitted to Us Weekly that he had a crush on Kim. Although he had been dating Paris Hilton at the time he met Kim, Travis told Us Weekly, “How could you not stare at Kim? Mind you, I enjoyed hanging out with Paris, but I love curvy girls. Kim was eye candy. I was no way disrespectful to Paris, but I couldn’t keep my eyes off Kim!”

The two became friends since they lived in the same neighborhood in Calabasas, and Kim actually went to Travis for advice about starting a reality show on E!. He explained, "I gave her the best advice I could but I still remember the conversation like yesterday: ‘I think my family is interesting and it could be something.’ Well, you were absolutely right!”

2017-2018: Becoming Friends

Years later, reports started coming out that Travis was friends with the Kardashian family. In October 2017, ET reported that Travis and his daughter, Alabama, had a "power dinner" with the Kardashian family and Jennifer Lawrence. Alabama said "they were really sweet," and Travis added, "I told her she had a power dinner."

Throughout 2018 and 2019, Travis and Kourtney were spotted together several times going out to dinner with friends. E! Online also reported that Travis's kids, Alabama and Landon, have been friends with Kourtney's kids, Mason and Penelope, for a while.

January 2021: A Relationship Begins

It wasn't until January 2021 that outlets began to report that Kourtney and Travis really were dating. Not long after Travis sparked rumors of their relationship by commenting a rose emoji on one of Kourtney's Instagram photos, Us Weekly confirmed that they were dating each other. An insider source told the outlet, "Kourtney and Travis are officially a couple. They have been close friends for years and have been dating for a couple months. Travis is very smitten with Kourtney and has been for a while."

Another source told People that the two had been dating "for about a month or two" and were in Palm Springs together. They added, "They've been friends for a long time but it's turned romantic. Travis has liked her for a while."

February 16, 2021: Instagram Official

A few days after being spotted on a date together at Japanese restaurant Matsuhisa in Los Angeles, the couple made things social media official. Kourtney posted a photo of them holding hands with no caption.

March 4, 2021: Travis Opens Up

In early March, Travis made an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, where he briefly talked about his relationship with Kourtney. Drew asked Travis if he preferred dating women who have kids or women who don't have kids, and Travis responded that while he's done both, he's found it hard to date women without kids because they don't always understand his obligations as a dad.

He went on to say, "Now I'm spending time with a woman who's a great mom, who's a great friend, and you don't have to worry about any of those things. It just comes natural, it's like a maturity thing. And I also really like missing someone and cherishing the time that I spend with them instead of every day being with them, especially in the beginning of the relationship. March 29, 2021: Date Night

Kourtney and Travis were spotted at a UFC game in Las Vegas, seated in the VIP section alongside Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly. That night a fan took a video of Kourtney and Travis getting flirty in their seats, with Travis sucking on Kourtney's finger.

April 3, 2021: First Family Vacation

In April, Kourtney and Travis took on another relationship milestone when they went snowboarding in Utah together. Except it wasn't just the two of them: They brought along all their kids, as evidenced by photos and videos that were posted on social media!

Kourtney posted a series of photos featuring Alabama, as well as Atiana De Lay Hoya, the daughter of Travis's ex-wife Moakler with whom he is still close. Later, Alabama posted a TikTok video of Kourtney, Travis, and their kids doing a "Pass The Phone" challenge video.

April 9, 2021: A Tattoo More Permanent Than Marriage

In early April, Travis took a big step in their relationship by getting a tattoo dedicated to Kourtney: her name in script on his chest. Kourtney showed off the ink in an Instagram photo with her hand next to it.

Around that same time, the two made things extra steamy on Instagram with some personal Instagram photos. April 18, 2021: Celebrating Kourtney's Birthday

Travis celebrated Kourtney's birthday with a sweet tribute to her on Instagram. Alongside a carousel of PDA-filled photos of the two of them (along with one video of Kourtney sucking on his toe), Travis wrote, "I F***ING LOVE YOU! 🖤 YOU’RE A BLESSING TO THIS WORLD HAPPY BIRTHDAY @kourtneykardash." People also reported that Travis gifted her a massive floral arrangement filled with all of her favorite flowers.

April 27, 2021: Vacation to Utah

Kourtney and Travis headed off on another trip together to Amangiri resort in Canyon Point, Utah. The two showed off their trip with some PDA-packed photos. Kourtney posted a photo of the two of them kissing in the desert with the caption, "Just Like Heaven." Travis followed this up with a carousel of photos of the two of them, including one video of his hand caressing Kourtney's butt, with the caption "Anywhere with you."

May 4, 2021: Engagement Rumors

Although Kourtney and Travis have only been dating for a few months, engagement rumors have already begun. A source told ET, "Kourtney and Travis are in love and have talked about their future and the possibility of getting engaged and married." They added, "Kourtney hasn’t felt this strongly about anyone in a while and can see a forever with Travis."

May 12, 2021: Another Tattoo

The steamy couple showed off their love for one another yet again with another permanent tattoo. "I tattoo," wrote Kourtney alongside a video of her giving the musician his latest ink. The art? The words "I love you" written on his arm!

July 13, 2021: "In It For the Long Haul"

Things have reportedly taken a very serious turn. According to E! News, the couple is thinking about their future together. "They are head over heels and never experienced love like this," a source close to Kourtney revealed to the publication. "Kourtney is the happiest. Travis adores her and treats her so well. It's very different than her other relationships and all positive."

And although the relationship is relatively new, the couple reportedly isn't "shy about talking about their future plans of being together." The source added that "It's a special love and they want to celebrate that and enjoy it."

July 14, 2021: Rumored Vegas Wedding

Less than a day after a source confirmed that the two have been talking about marriage, fans are speculating that the couple tied the knot in a secret Vegas wedding. The two appeared to be living it up all weekend long on a little Las Vegas getaway. Shortly after the weekend, Kourtney's hairstylist Glen Oropeza (better known by his Instagram handle @glencocoforhair) posted a series of photographs of Kravis from the trip with a rather suggestive caption.

"…NOWWW I understand why ppl tie the knot in Vegas," Oropeza wrote with a chapel and heart emojis. "There’s nothing like love AND a good time."

Not only did the internet lose it over the hairstylist's comments, but Travis's daughter, Alabama Barker, also posted to her Instagram story writing "So happy for you guys," according to Just Jared. And Kourtney reposted Alabama's post to her story—along with a video of white roses sent to her by her sister, Khloé Kardashian.

April 4, 2022: Travis and Kourtney Get Married in Vegas

Travis and Kourtney said "I do" in Las Vegas on Monday, April 4 at 2 a.m. after the rockstar's performance at the Grammy Awards earlier that night. An Elvis impersonator officiated the ceremony, and the duo showed up with their own photographer and security. However, due to not securing a Nevada marriage license, the couple are not officially married yet.

Kourtney revealed the news on Instagram, with the post, "Once upon a time in a land far, far away (Las Vegas) at 2am, after an epic night and a little tequila, a queen and her handsome king ventured out to the only open chapel with an Elvis and got married (with no license). Practice makes perfect."

May 15, 2022: Kourtney and Travis are Legally Married

After their Las Vegas nuptials without a proper marriage license, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker made things official on Sunday, May 15 at a Santa Barbara courthouse, according to a source for People. "They had to legally get married first ahead of their big Italian wedding, which is happening very soon," said the source. "All the details are set and the whole family, including all the kids, are very excited." With a few family members and friends in attendance, the happy couple can officially call each other husband and wife!
