It's the end of an era. Last night E's 20-season Keeping Up With the Kardashians aired its series finale. After 13 years, the show's end marks the close of a huge chapter in the Kardashians' (and our own) lives. And Kim is closing the door on another part of her life, as well.
The reality star, who filed for divorce from husband Kanye West in February 2021, opened up to mother Kris Jenner on last night's finale about her marriage and happiness at this point in her life. "I've lived up to my expectations and achieved ten times more than I even thought was humanly possible. But I don't have a life to share that with," she confessed. "Obviously, my kids and everything. But am I just gonna sit here and think, 'Okay, my kids fulfill me and I'm good?'"
She continued, "And then I never thought I was lonely, and I always thought that's totally fine. I could just have my kids. My husband moves from state to state and I'm on this ride with him. And I was okay with that."
But Kim revealed to an emotional Jenner that this year she finally realized what she wants in a partner. "And then, after turning 40 this year I realized 'no, I don't want a husband that lives in a completely different state,'" she said. "To me, I thought, 'oh my God, that's when we're getting along the best.' But then that is sad to me and that's not what I want."
The reality star went on to reveal that she felt "envious" and like she was "third-wheeling" during workouts with her sister Khloé Kardashian and Khloé on-and-off-again boyfriend Tristan Thompson every morning during quarantine. "I want someone that we have the same shows in common. I want someone that wants to work out with me," she explained.
Kim admitted that West has always given her the "extravagant" things in lifeK but that she wanted the simpler things now. "I'm grateful for those experiences. But... I think I'm ready for the smaller experiences that I think will mean a lot," she added.
The KKW Beauty and Skims founder also told her "momager" that she's seeking happiness and just wants to do whatever will make her most comfortable. "I do know that I will be happy. I didn't come this far, just to come this far, not to be happy. Remember that."
The episode aired just days after Kanye West's 44th birthday, on which Kim and other family members posted birthday tributes to the rapper on their social media pages. But on June 11, an eagle-eyed fan noticed that West was no longer following Kim or her sister's Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian on Twitter, though he still follows Kim (and only Kim) on Instagram. West has also recently been spotted out with supermodel Irina Shayk a few times over the past week, including on a trip to France.
The cameras stopped rolling before Kim and Kanye finalized their separation, but we're hoping we get some answers on next week's two-part reunion hosted by Andy Cohen.
