2015: A Date With Fate
While Kane missed out on being introduced to Katelyn through their shared producer on the set of a music video she was working due to conflicting schedules, fate stepped in one year later. “A year goes by and the same guy that we were working with brings her to a show,” Kane explained to Radio.com. “My very first show ever, I believe it was 2015 … She didn’t want to come and he forced her basically." As the musician recalled, they didn't say much, but they didn't need to: "We met, we didn’t talk at all, I maybe said ‘hey’ to her—but I thought she was adorable, [I was] looking at her all night.”
So taken with the bronde beauty was he, in fact, that he slid into her DMs the very next day. “I flew her down [to Nashville] and we just, we hit it off and she never left.
2016: Cohabitation
Katelyn remembered her experience joining her beau on tour to Taylor Magazine, saying, “He had one bus and there were 10 of us on it—all guys. Me and him shared a bunk, and if you’ve never been on a tour bus, then all you need to know is that they have tiny bunk beds! When we got in there, we were not moving for the night! We put our dog at the bottom of our bed and we did that for over a year.”
April 16, 2017: An Unusual Proposal
Easter 2017 was extra-special for the pair: It was the day the “One Mississippi” singer asked his future bride to marry him! As with the rest of their relationship, however, it didn't happen in the typical fashion, despite Kane's best-laid plans for a flowery proposal with “rose petals and everything like that." The reason? He simply got too excited! “I just couldn’t wait," he explained to People. Instead, he wound up popping the question in the middle of—gulp—The Amityville Horror—but it didn't stop Katelyn from saying "yes."

Though they stuck to traditional wedding vows, the pair told People that they had exchanged more personal letters expressing what was in their hearts during the day. The bride also went the classic route with her gown, telling the outlet, "I didn’t want a ton of extra fabric; I wanted something sleek and simple and this fit the bill."

Katelyn cited her other half as the person who inspires her the most in November 2019 during a tell-all interview with Taylor Magazine. “I don’t know how he does it and he does it so gracefully,” she raved of her husband’s ability to stay humble. “The coolest thing about him is who he is on stage and how people perceive him, he’s no different at home. If he has an interview or he has a show, he’s just the same.”
She continued, “He is so cool. He isn’t trying to be anything else other than himself. He’s constantly on the road and doing shows, and he does it with so much grace and stays true to himself.”

Originally, you know, I was thinking about Katelyn.”
The artist went on to explain that he also had another girl in mind—the couple’s daughter, Kingsley. “I was like, you know, this song could be about my daughter, too.
