Here's What Jon Bon Jovi Really Thinks of His Son Jake Bongiovi's Engagement to Millie Bobby Brown

It’s been about a month since Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi first shared the news of their engagement. Once the couple made the announcement on Instagram, they were flooded with love and support from friends and family. During an appearance on Andy Cohen Live on SiriusXM on May 2, 2023, Bongiovi’s dad, Jon Bon Jovi of the popular band Bon Jovi, revealed his real thoughts on their brand-new relationship status. When host Andy Cohen asked the Bon Jovi frontman whether he’s worried about Bongiovi, 20, and Brown, 19, getting engaged at a young age, Bon Jovi replied, “I don’t know if age matters. If you find the right partner and you grow together, I think that would be my advice really: growing together is wise. Growing together. I think that all of my kids have found the people that they think they can grow together with, and we like 'em all.”

Bongiovi is following in his dad’s footsteps. The rockstar also met his person and decided to get married at a relatively young age. Bon Jovi married his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Bongiovi, and credits evolving together as the reason why they’ve had such a successful long-term relationship. “Somehow it works. I think because we grow at the same rate,” he told People in 2016. "We grew equally and not in opposite directions.” The couple went on to have four children: Jake, Stephanie, Jesse, and Romeo. Now, the musician and his wife will be welcoming the Stranger Things actress into their family. “Millie is wonderful,” he says. “Her whole family is great—really great. Jake is very, very happy.” 

Bongiovi and Brown first announced their engagement on April 11, 2023. To share the news, the Netflix actress posted a black-and-white photo of the couple embracing one another, with the Enola Holmes star wearing a white lace dress and sporting a diamond ring on her left hand. The actress captioned her post with a quote from “Lover” by Taylor Swift. “I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want 'em all 🤍,” she wrote. 

According to Kathryn Money, SVP of merchandizing and retail expansion at Brilliant Earth, the star’s engagement ring appears to be a cushion-cut or round-cut diamond with a cushion-shaped halo on a pavé band. Money explains that the estimated cost of the ring is between $75,000 to $100,000. Olivia Landau, GIA-certified gemologist and founder of The Clear Cut, told Page Six that the rock is between three to three-and-a-half carats. 

Bongiovi also posted about the milestone moment on Instagram. He uploaded a snap of himself and his fiancée on the beach and another one of them on a boat. He simply captioned his post with the word, “Forever 🤍.” The couple’s friends and fans immediately shared their well-wishes. Actress Amybeth McNulty commented, “YESSSS!!!!!!!🤍🤍." Gordon Ramsay’s daughter, Holly Ramsay, wrote, “!!!! Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” while her sister, Tilly Ramsay, posted, “Congratulations 🫶🏻❤️!! Xx.”
