Jesse Tyler Ferguson Officiated Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams’s Wedding

When Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams said “I do” at their winery wedding in Santa Ynez, California on Saturday, August 20, 2022, the event wasn’t just a celebration of their love. It also served as a reunion for the Modern Family cast. In fact, the coupled tapped Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Hyland’s former co-star of the ABC sitcom, to officiate their outdoor ceremony. Ferguson even incorporated a hand fasting ritual to honor Hyland’s Irish and Scottish heritage, according to Vogue. “I’ve known Jesse since I was 18 years old,” Hyland told the publication. “I remember his first date with his husband, Justin. So, we’ve been through so much. Jesse, Justin, Wells, and I have traveled together, just the four of us. So, it was really special to have him up there.”

“It was an honor to officiate over your beautiful wedding @Sarah_Hyland & @WellsAdams,” the actor posted on Twitter. “I love you both very much. Here’s to forever.”

The Modern Family alum also took to Instagram to announce the couple’s marriage by sharing a sweet photo with the newlyweds and his husband, Justin Mikita. “My queen and king FINALLY had the most epic of weddings,” he captioned the post. “I love you both so so much. What a magical few days.❤️”

Several other cast members of the hit comedy show, such as Sofia Vergara, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, and Julie Bowen, also attended the wedding and cheered on their former Modern Family co-star.

Before they made it official, the pair kicked off the festivities with a rehearsal dinner at Sunstone Vineyards in Santa Ynez, California. They decorated the space with red taper candles, red roses, and bowls of plums.

The following day, the Love Island host walked down the aisle with her dad while sporting an ivory silk off-the-shoulder Vera Wang ball gown with a sweetheart neckline, a pleated bodice, and a dramatic slit. She accessorized with a cathedral-length tulle veil, which featured a lace embroidered border, and diamond earrings. The Geek Charming actress wore her hair in a low bun with wavy face-framing tendrils, and she embraced a timeless makeup look. Meanwhile, the Bachelor in Paradise bartender donned a classic black tuxedo. 

The ceremony took place outside in the vineyards. Pink roses lined the aisle and led to an altar composed of more flowers and lanterns. The couple swapped vows underneath a tree, draped in bright blooms and suspended with hanging lanterns.

After the television personalities were pronounced husband and wife, they continued the celebration at a romantic outdoor reception, which included pink and orange flowers, greenery, and glowing candlelight. For the reception, the actress changed into her second Vera Wang ensemble—an off-the-shoulder lace trumpet gown.

Then, it was on to the after-party. But first, Hyland made another wardrobe change. She danced the night away in a Galia Lahav silk gown with a thigh-high slit. 

From Modern Family guests to fashionable moments, Hyland and Adams’s wedding was one for the books.
