Jenny Slate shared that she got engaged this week during a romantic vacation in France with her boyfriend, art curator Ben Shattuck. The couple posted photos from the moment it all happened on Instagram and described how happy they are about the adventures they have ahead.
Slate included a handful of pictures from their time together and, in a final image, showed a photo of herself holding up her new engagement ring. The piece of jewelry looks like it's an antique-style band with a sapphire in the middle.
"He took me to France and made a picnic and made me feel happy and free and then he asked me to marry him and i screamed YES. I love you @benshattuck_art, you are the kindest and brightest and I am so grateful and here we go and keep going," she wrote.
Shattuck, who is the lead curator at the Dedee Shattuck Gallery in Massachusetts, also shared the news with his followers on social media.
"In an abandoned castle in southern France, I asked this woman to marry me," he wrote in his post. "Here she is in front of a door the color of her soul. In LA / MA / Holland / Belgium / France thank you @jennyslate and UP UP UP to more adventures."
Slate and Shattuck were first seen together at the Sundance Film Festival in January. They began dating after Slate and her Gifted costar Chris Evans went their separate ways, following a two-year on-and-off relationship. Slate was previously in a four-year marriage to the comedian and director Dean Fleischer-Camp.
Slate's post was met with tons of sweet messages of congratulations from friends. "That is the sweetest. Congratulations!" Chelsea Handler wrote, while Alison Brie commented, "Wow wow wow congrats!!!"
