Things have come full circle for Jennifer Lopez. On the 20th anniversary of the release of her album This Is Me…Then, on November 25, 2022, the singer and actress announced her new album, This Is Me…Now. To build up excitement around the drop, the star deleted everything on her Instagram and her social media account went entirely dark for days until she finally revealed the news by posting a clip that recreated the 2002 album cover for 2022. “This is Me … Now,” she writes. She also posted the entire track list.
Just like the “Jenny from the Block” singer dedicated her 2002 album to Ben Affleck, her relationship with her now husband has also inspired her latest musical project, which she’s going to release in 2023. The album will include songs, such as “Dear Ben pt. II” and “Midnight Trip to Vegas,” which refers to the couple’s first wedding in July of 2022, according to People.
J.Lo’s ninth studio album “chronicles the emotional, spiritual, and psychological journey that she has taken over the past two decades,” according to a press release. The release also notes that the album will feature “confessional songs, reflections on the trials of the past, [and] upbeat celebrations of love with her signature powerhouse vocals.”
In an interview with Good Morning America on November 28, 2022, Lopez opens up about her new music and her whirlwind romance with the Deep Water star. After the duo first started dating in 2002, Affleck popped the question that same year, but they called it quits two years later and went their separate ways. “It was so painful after we broke up,” the performer shares. “Once we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest heartbreak of my life, and I honestly felt like I was going to die. It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn’t get it right.” To cope with the heart-wrenching emotions, the Marry Me actress says she immersed herself in work.
Lopez and Affleck rekindled that flame in July of 2021 and went on to tie the knot twice—on July 17, 2022 and again on August 20, 2022. The “On the Floor” singer says the reconnection proves that “true love does exist, and some things do last forever, and that’s real. Now, 20 years later, it does have a happy ending.”
After the duo started dating again in 2021, Affleck proposed on April 8, 2022 with a unique green sparkler. Following their long-awaited nuptials, Lopez changed her name to “Mrs. Affleck” to partake in the tradition. “We’re husband and wife,” she says. “I’m proud of that. I don’t think that’s a problem.”
