"[The country] is brimming with excellent food of all types—from street food to Michelin-starred haute cuisine—and its culture is incredibly rich...it’s home to a lot of interesting and compelling modern art and design for people who like more modern style mixed with ancient cathedrals and alleyways."

Read on for what to know and where to go when planning your honeymoon in Spain.

The current outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. Getting There and Getting Around

It all depends on the places you are going to visit, but for a multi-city itinerary, it is recommended to arrive in Madrid, a hub for international flights, which is located in the center of the country. Rocío Haro, regional director of Alandis Travel, shares that there are various ways to navigate the country and its municipalities depending on your route, budget, or timeline. "From here you can move either by rental car (for routes through the north of the country), high-speed train in a very short time (with connections to major cities such as Malaga, Seville or Barcelona), or take other air connections if you are going to visit destinations such as the Canary or Balearic Islands."

In general, public transport is convenient in the bigger cities, says Shilpa Kurkarny of Voyay!ge, while the Eurail Pass is good for traveling between cities.

Spain Honeymoon Cost

Chris McCarty, travel designer at kimkim, helps travelers plan custom itineraries and shares that a trip to Spain for two during a peak period could clock in around $9,000 total including activities, hotels, and transportation. Keeping in mind that couples on a honeymoon typically opt for upgraded hotel rooms or suites, he notes they often work with a variety of budget ranges for Spain, but on average $300 to $400 per couple per day is advised and could go up from there depending on your choice of hotel-style and activities.
