November 22, 2015: Relationship Rumors

Gigi and Zayn's rumored relationship began at an American Music Awards after-party in 2015. Zayn had recently called off his engagement to ex-fiancé Perri Edwards and Gigi had ended her relationship with singer Joe Jonas. Speculation surrounding Gigi and Zayn's love life occurred when the supermodel was spotted stepping into the former One Direction bandmate's car on November 22, 2015. "Zayn was not with Gigi inside the party. He came to pick her up afterwards. Gigi walked out the front of the restaurant and hopped in the car with him," a source told E! News at the time.

December 20, 2015: Instagram Debut

Just a month after the couple ignited romance rumors, they made their relationship Instagram-official. It was Zayn who shared a now-deleted post showing off a black-and-white polaroid of the young couple.

January 29, 2016: A Steamy Music Video

While the pair were frequently photographed together in New York City in January 2016, no one knew how serious their relationship was until Zayn released the music video for his single "Pillowtalk." The steamy video starred both the singer and his supermodel girlfriend.

April 5, 2016: Together In Vogue

In what would become the first of a few fashion shoots, the A-list couple posed for a spread in the May 2016 issue of Vogue. The photoshoot took place in Naples, Italy, and featured the couple posing in bed, on a balcony, and a Vespa.

May 2, 2016: Met Gala Debut

Gigi and Zayn made their red carpet debut at none other than the Met Gala in 2016. Following the theme of “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” the couple coordinated in custom Tommy Hilfiger looks.

June 2, 2016: The First Break-Up

But just a month after their Met Gala date, the couple reportedly had broken up. However, a source suggested to E! News that the break up would likely not last long, saying, "Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow. It's all very unclear what's going on between them now. They've been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along."

July 8, 2016: Back Together

As predicted, Gigi and Zayn's first break-up was short-lived, with the supermodel sharing a photo of the couple on Instagram on July 8, 2016. "squish ya," she captioned the image.

December 14, 2016: First Date Details

While appearing on SiriusXM's Hits 1 radio station, Zayn told the hosts how he initially asked Gigi out. "I just asked her. It was pretty straight up," he said. "I just asked her if she wanted to go on a date. I was in New York."

January 31, 2017: Typical Date Night

In her cover story for the March 2017 issue of British Vogue, the supermodel surprisingly opened up about her relationship with Zayn. She described their typical date night, saying, “When I’m in LA I mostly stay in because it’s my time off and I like being with my boyfriend and doing art and cooking. We like late-night movies and we order from this amazing place that does lattes and gingerbread cookies. I need coffee to stay up. I’m always like, ‘Babe, let’s go to a movie.’ Then I fall asleep halfway through and he’s like, ‘You’ve seen the first half of every movie out there and you have no idea how any of them end.’”

The couple graced the cover of Vogue's August 2017 issue.

March 13, 2018: The Second Break-Up

Their relationship came to another ending in March 2018—and this time both Gigi and Zayn publicly spoke of the break-up. Gigi tweeted, "Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience together over a few years .. not only in the relationship, but in life in general. I'm forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever's meant to be will always be. xG."

Zayn also released a statement: "Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and a friend. But a month after their public break-up, the couple was spotted kissing in New York City, per TMZ.

May 1, 2018: Zayn Wants Gigi Back

In May 2018, a source told E! that Zayn wanted to get back together with the supermodel, but they were not officially an item (despite the romantic paparazzi pics snapped just days prior!). The insider told the publication, "Zayn really wants to be with [Gigi] and has made it clear. He misses her and can't stand being apart...Gigi's a little bit more hesitant." The source added, "They are both so busy with their careers and traveling the world. It makes it very difficult to be in a relationship."

October 21, 2018: Back Together

Their second break-up officially came to an end when Gigi posted of photo of Zayn on Instagram on October 21, 2018. The now-deleted post was captioned, "flying home to my happy place."

January 3, 2019: The Third Break-Up

Gigi and Zayn broke up for the third time in early January 2019. “They’re done,” a source told Us Weekly. “They could get back together, but it’s over for now.” Another source revealed, “She cut herself off from all her friends every time they were together. She focused all her time and energy on him, but it just got to be too much.”

August 2019: Gigi's Summer Fling

In August 2019, Gigi had a brief fling with The Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron. They went on several dates in New York City and the reality star even attend Gigi's grandmother's funeral in the Netherlands that month. The fling, however, was short and ended that fall.

November 19, 2019: Back In Touch

In November 2019, E! News reported that Gigi and Zayn were talking again. A source shared that Gigi "has always had a soft spot for Zayn and they have a lot of history together." 

January 11, 2020: Family Date Night

By January 2020, it was clear that Gigi and Zayn were back on as they were spotted celebrated the singer's birthday in Manhattan. They were joined by Gigi's siblings Bella and Anwar Hadid, as well as Anwar's girlfriend, singer Dua Lipa.

April 23, 2020: Gigi Turns 25

Gigi and Zayn celebrated the model's 25th birthday while in quarantine at her mother's Pennsylvania farm. While fans didn't know it at the time, Gigi's birthday festivities also doubled as a gender reveal party. "Had the sweetest day celebrating my 25th birthday with my quarantine family, who made it so special for me, along with all the love I felt from all over the world...I am grateful and lucky that my family and friends -near and far- are healthy and safe, and although I missed loved ones I wish I could have celebrated with, know that these times will make us even more grateful for togetherness to be had in the future! April 29, 2020: Pregnancy Rumors

Just days after Gigi turned 25, TMZ reported that she was expecting a child with Zayn. Per sources close to the couple, the model was 20 weeks along at the time. And it wasn't long until her mother, Yolanda, confirmed the rumors. "Of course we are so excited," Yolanda told RTL Boulevard. "I'm excited to become a Oma in September especially after I lost my mom so recently. But this is the beauty of life: One soul leaves us and a new one comes in. We feel very blessed."

April 30, 2020: Gigi Confirms the Rumors

"Obviously, we wished we could have announced it on our own terms but we're very excited and happy and grateful for everyone's well-wishes and support," Gigi told Jimmy Kimmel on April 30, 2020—her first time publicly speaking about her pregnancy.

July 15, 2020: Flaunting the Baby Bump

With just two months left of her pregnancy, Gigi revealed her growing baby bump for the first time on social media in July during an Instagram live. At the end of August, she shared a series of photos taken during a pregnancy photoshoot on July 26, 2020.

September 2020: A Baby Girl Is Born

Gigi and Zayn welcomed their first child together in September 2020. A few days after their baby's birth, the couple shared the happy news on Instagram and revealed the baby is a girl. "Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love," wrote the new mother on Sept. 23.

Zayn shared a similar photo on Instagram, announcing, "Our baby girl is here, healthy and beautiful. To try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love I feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, and thankful for the life we will have together."

January 21, 2021: Her Name Is Khai

Four months after her daughter's birth, Gigi revealed they named their little one Khai in the most subtle way: She changed her Instagram bio to "Khai's mom." It didn't take fans long to notice the hint!

February 4, 2021: Birth Story

Gigi graced the cover of Vogue's March 2021 issue (the cover was shot just 10 weeks post-partum!) and detailed the birth of baby Khai. Gigi and Zayn welcomed their daughter at home in Pennsylvania following a 14-hour labor. "It didn’t even click that she was out,” Gigi told the publication of Zayn catching the baby. “I was so exhausted, and I looked up and he’s holding her. It was so cute.”

The new parents had originally planned to give birth at a New York City hospital, but they decided an at-home birth suited them best. She said, "We both looked at each other and were like, I think that’s the call."
