Yael and Bryan wanted their September urban wedding to incorporate traditional Jewish elements with personalized twists. The affair displayed the couple's love of modern architecture and design as well as art, tropical flowers and travel. A bright color scheme of turquoise and lime-green added a jolt of energy and liveliness to the reception.

Bryan and Yael met at a James Bond–themed party at Stanford University—just days before Yael’s graduation and scheduled move to Israel. “Bryan decided to buy a ticket out there on a whim one day, prompting several more visits back and forth,” says Yael. One year later, she decided to move back to the Bay Area, and the couple has been together ever since.

The couple exchanged vows outdoors in front of a waterfall at Yerba Buena Gardens, a location that fit perfectly with the sophisticated urban vibe of their wedding. Surrounded by the city's skyscrapers, the traditional Jewish ceremony took place underneath a stunning white chuppah accented with red ginger, orange montbretia, pink gloriosa lilies and other tropical flowers (the bride's favorite). The bridesmaids wore strapless dresses by Impression bridal.

During the couple’s traditional Jewish ceremony, the couple used the same cup from the bride’s parents’ wedding for the first blessing and a new cup given to them as a gift for the second blessing. The ceremony ended with Bryan stepping on a glass (seen here in the blue velvet bag) and their 180 guests yelling, “Mazel tov!”

The bride created the bright-green-and-blue ceremony programs herself, to match the wedding’s vibrant color scheme.

Bryan and Yael chose to hold their reception in the five-story Atrium of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, since both the bride and groom love modern architecture and design. A bold color scheme of turquoise and lime-green added a jolt of liveliness and energy to the museum's black-and-gray marble floors, and complemented the Atrium's colorful two-story paintings.

These luggage tags by Jet Set Go doubled as favors and place cards, and reflected Yael and Bryan’s love of travel. The back of the tag featured a Mondrian-inspired design that matched the wedding cake.

The tables were set with square plates wrapped with lime-green napkins by Classic Party Rentals and topped with a single green cymbidium orchid. Guests dined on a buffet of international foods, including Asian fusion, Mediterranean fare and Italian dishes provided by Dan McCall & Associates.

The Mondrian-inspired fondant cake by Cakework was designed to complement the museum's contemporary artwork. The couple opted for alternating layers of chocolate-toffee-truffle cake and almond cake with vanilla cream and raspberries.

The centerpieces were arranged to resemble modern-art sculptures—tall glass vases were topped with galax leaves, pink gloriosa lilies and yellow crespedia, then surrounded at the base by three low, cube-shaped vases filled with cymbidium orchids, pincushion flowers, bear grass and kiwi vines. Yellow-painted votives completed the look and added warmth to the tables. Miguel Torres of Dan McCall & Associates provided the flowers.

After dinner, which was catered by Dan McCall & Associates, a dessert buffet of 15 different treats, including chocolate pot de crème and profiteroles with chocolate mousse, was set out. Waiters also passed around miniature sorbet cones.
