What to Look for in a Ring Box or Dish

Size & Shape

If you are looking for a ring box that you'll take down the aisle, Gottlieb recommends a small, slim shape that will fit in your pocket and won't look too bulky, like Soufeel's Personalized Engagement Box.

"The box interior should be non-abrasive, and keep your ring securely in place," says Gottlieb, who recommends a padded tray, box, or dish, like Pottery Barn's Quinn Heart Shaped Leather Jewelry Box. "The exterior should be hard and sturdy so it will not dent and damage the ring inside."

For ring boxes, look for a design that stay open on its own for presentations and photos. If you plan to use the ring box of dish for future storage, have some fun and look for styles that add to your decor, like Olivia Riegel's Windsor Ring Holder.

"We see some of our brides opting to order a personalized or monogrammed ring box in their wedding color palette to add a special touch to their wedding day photos," says Gottlieb.

  • How do I store my ring properly?

Hopefully you love your ring so much, you don't want to take it off. But to keep it clean and safe, it's best to remove it before bed and certain activities.

"We always recommend removing your ring, and storing it in a soft, padded tray or lined jewelry box so that the ring is secure and will not get scratched. Keep the ring away from other jewelry items or hard surfaces," says Gottlieb. "We suggest avoiding wearing the ring during exercise, manual labor, manicures, cooking, cleaning, or any activity where the ring would be exposed to creams, lotions, perfumes, or soaps with harsh ingredients."

  • Do I wear my engagement ring on my wedding?

As part of the wedding ceremony, you will put your wedding band on your left ring finger. You can either wear your engagement ring on your right hand or put it on after the ceremony.
