The traditional wedding dress fabric is undergoing a major re-design. Rather than feeling stuffy, dresses from this netted make are ethereal and modern — some even feel lighter than boho and beach bride's beloved chiffon skirts and silk charmeuse sheaths. The best part is that tulle is no longer limited to oversized ball gown. A wide array of styles feature tulle skirts, including mermaid silhouettes, detachable over-skirts, and breezy A-line designs. (Another plus? Tulle works really well with another favored trend: colorful gowns.)
The tulle revival is going so strong that popular designer Hayley Paige created a collection-within-her-collection of dresses, deemed "Love Poets Society," which spotlight removable tulle over-skirts. On the other hand, bridal favorite Monique Lhuillier showed a range almost entirely made up of tulle creations — both featuring removable over-skirts and light-as-air A-line tulle gowns. Carolina Herrera, Marchesa, Amsale and Christos are just a few other fashion houses to recently craft voluminous tulle skirts that provide drama without the extra weight.
From the simplest sheer tulle layer on a dress's side to a full-on ball gown skirt, plenty of designers updated the classic bridal fabric to feel fresh, feminine, and romantic — so don't count tulle out just yet!
