Is the bridal swimsuit finally upon us? That's what Paris Haute Couture Week—and Chanel—would have us think. But if you're not ready to say "I do" in your best swimwear, don't fret. Alongside the bridal swimsuit that rocked the Chanel runway, we saw a bevy of runway and aisle-worthy gowns in the full splendor of Couture Week's expected high fashion glamour. While traditionally a big bridal moment closes off most of the runway shows during the Spring 2019 Haute Couture Week in Paris, this season we saw a lot of bridal influence interspersed throughout the collections—many of these ready to make the leap to the bridal world.
Brides were more covered at Ralph & Russo, Zuhair Murad, Georges Chakra, and others than Chanel but all equally fabulous. These were exactly what one would expect from a Couture bride—over the top in the best way, full of glitz, beading, glamour, full skirts, and Priyanka Chopra-level veils. While those show-stopping final runway moments blew us away, it was the constant stream of wedding dress-inspired looks that will set the precedent for brides in 2020 and beyond. The trends we saw at Paris Couture Week were very consistent with what bridal designers showed during Bridal Fashion Week—plenty of off-the-shoulder silhouettes, dramatic high-low skirts, one-shoulder gowns, the deepest of v-necks, and loads upon loads of feather trimming and detail. Bold brides weren't forgotten as wedding dresses, complete with veils, were shown in all shades, from black to red, bright fuchsia and more.
We picked our 39 favorite bridal-ready dresses from the runways of Paris Haute Couture. Keep an eye on them: The next crop of brides will definitely be traipsing down the aisle in similar looks.
