Carolina Herrera's perfect Spring 2017 bridal collection was "inspired by the woman of today." The wedding dresses aim to explore romance and femininity in new forms, and it's clear the collection nailed that sentiment.
Always one to keep things timeless, Carolina Herrera's Spring 2017 wedding dresses were a flawless mix of traditional, sophisticated, and fashion-forward.
While classic was the overarching mood of Herrera's collection, that doesn't mean things can't get a little update for "the woman of today." Peplums, plunging backs, oversized bows, beaded illusion necklines and sleeves gave the collection and updated feeling without overstepping on trends — something the house likes to steer clear of overall.
Similar to other collections this season, Herrera chose to keep the focus of her wedding dresses on fabric and craftsmanship. Showcasing this focus were dresses in re-embroidered lace layered over nude tulle, and floral motif appliqués. A clean-cut strapless a-line gown featuring an oversized bow was one of our favorites — a perfect choice for the bride looking to make for a hint of bold with her classic dress! And for the bride looking to dare as she walks down the aisle? A sleek backless sheath, also accented with an oversized bow and whispers of sheer delicate fabric, is sophisticated and risqué all at once.
The wedding dress collection also took some inspiration from Herrera's signature ready-to-wear styles. A menswear inspired trench gown with pin-tucked detailing was quintessentially Carolina Herrera (the designer has made a white blouse her signature style), while a crisply tailored ivory silk crepe pant and top combination (adorably styled with an embroidered 3/4-length veil and matching pumps) had us seeing visions of Audrey Hepburn — classy and classic, our favorite combination.
