Carmen & Shane in Dickerson, MD\\nOne couple chooses a country locale and an eggplant-and-gray color scheme for their rustic and romantic celebration.\\nCarmen and Shane first met as freshmen at Patrick Henry College in Virginia, but didn't start dating until they were seniors. At their wedding, Carmen wore a Melissa Sweet gown (\\"The dress of my dreams!\\" she says) and carried a bouquet of calla lilies, fiddlehead ferns, ranunculuses, and thistle. Shane wore an Express suit with a Geoffrey Beene tie.\\nBridesmaids carried bouquets of brunia, thistle, sweet peas, lisianthuses, and roses.\\nThe groomsmen sported calla lily boutonnieres.\\nThe ceremony was held on the lawn of the Comus Inn at Sugarloaf Mountain.\\nThe couple exchanged vows under a floral arbor.\\nMason jars filled with hydrangeas hung from shepherds hooks along the aisle served as décor. All floral design was by Fleurish Events.\\nGuests received programs created by Jennifer Olmstead, and listened to readings and songs performed by family and friends.\\nThe reception was held in a tent on the inn's back terrace. \\"We wanted our wedding to have a rustic-chic feel,\\" says Carmen. \\"The setting was so elegant, beautiful, and charming.\\"\\n\\n\\n\\nCenterpieces included silver bowls filled with lush arrangements of roses, hydrangeas, and thistle atop table runners made of gray burlap.\\nDinner, catered by the inn, featured Maryland crab cakes (the couple's favorite dish), pecan-crusted chicken, and pasta.\\n\\n\\n\\nThe nature-inspired wedding cake, by Rebekah Pizana of Gourmet Amore, was decorated with rosebuds and twigs, and displayed on a stand made from a real tree stump.\\nCarmen and Shane performed their first dance to \\"Make You Feel My Love\\" by Adele. One of the groom's cousins, Illinois-based DJ Alex Parra, spun a mix of tunes that ranged from swing to pop.\\nGuests also enjoyed toasts given by the maid of honor and best man.\\nAnother highlight of the evening: \\"During dinner, our DJ challenged the guests at every table to stand up and sing a song with the word 'love' in it,\\" says Carmen, who switched into a feather-and-flower hair comb by Hart Felt Art for the reception. \\"It was fun to see how creative everyone could be.\\"
