As the holidays get closer and our bank account dwindles, we're always trying to find clever ways to cut down on the number of gifts we have give—not necessarily to save money, but more to have fewer loose ends to tie up while we make our way through our other to-do lists in preparation for the holidays. If you're traveling, you have to deal with all sorts of transportation logistics—should you pack your gifts or ship them? If you're hosting, you've got more important things to worry about than gifts—grocery shopping! Cleaning! Arranging!
So when it comes to the never-ending list of gifts you have to buy for the holidays, why not combine the couples in your life and give them a gift that's just as meaningful as individual gifts? And let's be honest, we probably all need less stuff, so giving them one gift will probably be something they're thankful for (especially if they're traveling afterward!).
Even if you're looking for a gift for a couple outside of the holiday season (i.e. a wedding gift, engagement gift, etc.), figuring out something that will be a good fit for both of them can be a bit of a conundrum—which is why we're here to help!
Here are 10 of our favorite ideas for joint couple gifts.
A Board Game
For that game loving couple, get them a board game that they'll actually play, and something stylish enough to keep out on a coffee table year-round, like this beautiful acrylic chess set.

A Book They'll Both Enjoy
These days there's a pretty coffee table book out there for just about any interest. We love this one from Phaidon with tips on what bars to drink at all over the world, and what to order when you're there.

An Indoor Garden
For those not lucky enough to have a plot of land to plant anything in, we love this windowsill herb garden. It's the gift that keeps on giving—and with the integrated waterfall and drainage system, you won't need to have a green thumb.

Who doesn't love getting something in the mail? Subscriptions to something they both love is a fun way to get them excited every month (or every few months, depending on frequency). For the hot sauce lovers out there, we love this quarterly subscription.

Art is certainly a risky move, so unless you know the couple's taste really really well, don't go this route! But if you do indeed know what they'll love, there's nothing more meaningful than a beautiful piece of art.

A Card Game
For those who love to host game night (the same people who always carry a deck of cards around), there are a ton of fun card game options out there (thanks to the Apples to Apples turned Cards Against Humanity craze).

Pretty Grooming Products
This one is a little specific, but for the high-maintenance couples out there, we're obsessed with these brass combs. They're so special, you'll want to buy one for yourself! And plus, who doesn't love a good fish comb?!

We're not usually a fan of couples mugs (they can go real cheesy real quick), but these are pretty quirky and cute!

This also may not be the first thing you think of when you're considering a gift for a couple, but it will definitely be something they'll enjoy! Good quality sheets make such a difference in sleep comfort, which makes for a happier (bed sharing) couple.

A Portable Speaker
For the music loving couple, there's really nothing better than a quality portable speaker. Move it around easily from room to room without having to hook up some larger and more complicated multiroom sound system.
