Spring brides, you're in luck: Peony season is upon us. The beautiful, fluffy flower beloved by brides the world 'round begins to bloom in early spring through late June. Pretty peonies are available in a wide range of colors, from white, cream, and yellow to varying shades of red, burgundy, and pink.
One of our favorite peony varieties, called Claire de Lune, boasts sweetly delicate, slightly crinkled, creamy yellow to ivory petals. Once the peony buds crack open, they reveal a center densely packed with bright, golden-yellow stamens. These large, showy peonies resemble a sunny-side-up egg (in the best way possible) and are stunning in wedding arrangements.
While they tend to be one of the pricier flowers at the market, peonies can work for any type of budget. Splurge on an all-peony bouquet if your purse allows; however, you can save by featuring a single peony or two as an accent flower within a bouquet filled with more affordable blooms. Another budget-friendly idea? Consider carrying a posy down the aisle rather than a traditional bouquet. Since peonies are so voluminous, fewer stems still makes a serious impact.
To help inspire your own bridal bouquet, we found some of the most beautiful Claire de Lune arrangements for every type of wedding style.
