"Robert and I love the country, and wanted to have a party where everyone would feel comfortable yet honored," says Marie of their wedding on her grandparents' ranch. Her groom sported a Calvin Klein tuxedo from Al's Formal Wear.
She wore a Forever Yours gown from Alexia Gavela Bridal in Austin, accessorized with Lucchese cowboy boots.
The ceremony was held in an oak grove.
Bridesmaids wore dresses from Anthropologie and carried bouquets of peonies, hydrangeas, lilacs, and sweet peas. All floral design was by Bergner and Johnson Design.
Pomanders of hydrangeas adorned chairs.
Musicians performed several of the couple's favorite hymns.
Guests read programs by High Cotton Design.
The groom's nieces, who served as flower girls, "laughed the whole way down the aisle!" says the bride.
The reception was held in a tent put up on the property's tennis court.
"For colors, I love peony pink and lemon yellow, so we had both peonies and sugared lemons as centerpieces," says Marie, who planned her wedding with the help of Events by Room Service. For dinner, provided by Party Thyme Catering, stations were set up featuring a variety of foods, including sushi, tacos, and pasta.
The wedding cake, by Edet Okon of Satin Slices, featured five tiers, each a different flavor, including carrot, chocolate, almond, and spice. Chocolate-dipped macaroons (the groom's favorite treat), were baked by friends and also served for dessert.
The couple performed their first dance to "Could I Have This Dance?" by Anne Murray. For the rest of the evening, the Drywater Band performed country classics and contemporary favorites.
At the end of the night, the couple's 325 guests waved sparklers and tossed rose petals as the couple made their exit into a waiting helicopter. Says the bride, "When we got into the helicopter, there was a huge sigh of relief that the wedding had gone so well, that we were married—and that, after so many hours of standing up, we were finally able to sit down!"
