Who says an engagement ring requires a center stone? Since wearing multiple bands with different designs and rocking them on the same finger (a.k.a. "ring stacking") is a major jewelry trend right now, there's no reason you can't apply the look to your bridal bling. And diamond-studded eternity bands are just the way to go if you're looking for something a bit non-traditional but still special — and sparkly, of course.
The biggest difference between an eternity band and a traditional engagement ring is that the ring has smaller, evenly distributed diamonds throughout the ring instead of having one large center stone. This doesn't necessarily mean, though, that they have to be tiny. Jewelers like Kwiat, De Beers, and Tiffany all create eternity bands with sizable round and emerald-cut diamonds, for example.
Of course, if you're looking for something more subtle, there are plenty of styles available for you as well. Gently dotted pavé and baguette bands will probably be more up your alley. You can get creative, too, with designers like Cathy Waterman, Vale, and Bario Neal designing interesting shapes with their bands — such as a tiara or hexagon — and dotting them with tiny precious gems.
