Babymoons have fast become less of a trend, and more of a staple. And finding the right babymoon destination is not as easy as you might think.
What once originated as a special trip designated to spend some quality time with your love prior to your littlest love’s arrival has evolved into a “must” for many couples, and more and more are venturing both far and near for some well-deserved R&R.
Here are some of our favorite babymoon destinations right now. Bon voyage!
With the Zika cautionary warning for Miami removed last June, the CDC no longer has any travel recommendations related to the virus for Miami-Dade county, meaning it’s time to “party in the city where the heat is on,” (as best you can while preggo, that is.) Beach-loving couples, pack up and head to The Setai Miami Beach, an ocean-side oasis in the heart of South Beach. With three temperature-controlled beachfront pools (at 75, 85 and 95 degrees), private day beds and cabanas, and complimentary bottles of water and misting spray (hydration is key while pregnant) this luxe locale is a no-brainer for sunshine and relaxation. At the end of the day, head to The Ocean Grill—one of the only beachfront restaurants in South Beach—and indulge in any of their tempting offerings, including mocktails!
What’s better than crystal clear waters, secluded shores, and pink—yes, pink—beaches? Nothing. For some much-needed island vibes, Bermuda has something to offer everyone, and has been a leading babymoon destination for years, especially amidst Zika concerns. (No zika here!) Treat yourself like the princess that you are, and call the luxurious Hamilton Princess & Beach Club home for your stay. Whether you’re working on your pregnancy fitness or are seeking some deserved spa time, their 8,200 square foot fitness center with spa that extends outside will seem like heaven on earth. After sunset, dine at Marcus’, where you can enjoy the first and only restaurant of a celebrity chef within the Bahamas. If you’re up for it, enjoy some day trips taking in all Bermuda has to offer, and if you’re not—stay close and revel in the luxe accommodations. Either way, you can’t go wrong!
The Jersey Shore
Don’t let the MTV show fool you, New Jersey is home to some of the most incredible beaches and quaint seaside towns—especially Stone Harbor. Expectant couples on the east coast, pack your beach bags and drive on down the Parkway to The Reeds at Shelter Haven, a bayside 37-room resort that provides an exquisite ambiance that’s prime for serenity and relaxation. With provided “Beach Butlers” to escort you a few blocks to the beach, you won’t have to worry about towels or sunscreen—they’ve got you covered. Back at the property, choose from one of five on-site restaurants that will have anything and everything you’re craving including pizza, tacos and ice cream. Yes, please!
If sun and sand aren’t speaking to you, for a bit of a different vibe (and if you’re up for a transatlantic flight—which is typically okay for most women into their third trimester) consider spending some time in the true English countryside at The Lygon Arms in Cotswolds. Away from the hustle and bustle of London (but a 2 hour trip should you want to head in for a day), the scenery is something out of a fairytale and the property exudes cozy and authentic vibes sure to please any preggo. Indulge in a Courtyard suite where you can enjoy king sized beds, antique furniture and an individual terrace with private garden. With a rich history dating back to the 1300’s, other key property amenities include a newly refurbished pool, lush gardens, afternoon tea, on property dining, and the Lygon Arms Spa. Mani/pedis anyone?
With a package created especially for you, The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Phoenix-Scottsdale offers more than just an incredibly beautiful and relaxing setting. Their “Bundle of Joy” Babymoon package is complete with spa experiences and sweet treats sure to please any momma. Included in the package are an organic skin care gift set, $25 gift card to Kierland Commons, chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling ciders, two pints of Haagen Dazs Ice Cream (yes, please!) an in-room movie of your choice, a 50 minute couples massage and even a 24-hour “cravings” chef service—with customized room service at any hour. Seriously, what more could an expecting woman want?
Paradise Island, Bahamas
To the north of the bustling Bahamian capital of Nassau is the aptly named Paradise Island that offers blue skies, 300 days of sunshine, and average temps in the high 70s. Its centerpiece is Atlantis, Paradise Island, a sprawling resort oasis replete with a massive open-air marine habitat, the largest casino in the Caribbean, and accommodations ranging from adults-only to family-friendly. Pregnancy cravings? There are a multitude of restaurants to satisfy all your hankerings.
