A flower girl basket is another decoration that you can tie back to the theme of your wedding. Throwing a rustic barn wedding? Go with a wooden basket to match the earthy vibe. If your wedding more glam, look for basket with elegant touches like rhinestones or satin bows.
Before picking a basket, consider the size of your flower girl and the items she will be carrying. You don't want the basket to be too small or large.
What is a flower girl?
A flower girl is typically the youngest person in the wedding party and precedes the bride down the aisle.
"Their main duty is to charm the pants off guests, leaving them smiling from ear to ear," says Bellamy. "Some are very shy and walk timidly down the aisle while others take their responsibilities seriously, meticulously placing each petal in the 'perfect' spot for the bride. Mostly, they're there to set a cute tone for the bride to walk down the aisle.”
They can be nieces, cousins, or even your college best friend's daughter, she says.
How old should a flower girl be?
Flower girls usually range from three to eight years old, but they of course can be younger if you are confident in their abilities to go down the aisle.
What do I put in a flower girl basket?
Traditionally, the flower girl throws flower petals, but this isn't set in stone. In fact, there are endless options, like balloons, seashells, confetti, and more. If your venue doesn't allow throwing stuff on the aisle, they can still have fun by blowing bubbles, holding balloons, carrying a sign, etc.
