Susan Sarandon's daughter Eva Amurri, creator of Happily Eva After Collection, found her own happy ending with chef Ian Hock. On February 20, 2023, the couple announced their engagement with a joint Instagram post, featuring a series of photos from the proposal in Paris. Some of the shots show the couple smiling together while the content creator and actress’s ring, what appears to be an emerald-cut diamond ring flanked by two smaller diamonds, is front and center. In her Instagram Story, Amurri shared more details on her engagement ring. “Ian designed it with @cms_custom and OMG Christina you outdid yourself!!!!!” she writes on her story.
The post also shows the duo strolling around the city of love with the Eiffel Tower in the background, the pair dining at La Fontaine de Mars, and Amurri posing with sister Augusta Amurri. In each one, her new bling is the focal point. Along with the photos, Amurri begins her caption with a lyric from “Lover” by Taylor Swift. “🎶 My Heart’s Been Borrowed And Yours Has Been Blue. All’s Well That Ends Well To End Up With You 🎶,” she says. “Those who know us know so well what this moment means to us. We are so so so happy. Can’t wait to spend all the rest of our days together ❤️🔥💍.”
Amurri first revealed that she was dating Hock on her Happily Eva After blog on January 7, 2021. "I'm beyond happy to share with you that I have a wonderful boyfriend in my life!" she wrote. "His name is Ian, he's super loving, creative, handsome and funny, and we have a ton in common." She also mentioned that the two of them met when she grabbed dinner at his restaurant with a friend who attended high school with him. “We ended up chatting and had an immediate connection and spark," she added to her blog post. "I thought he was cute and easy to talk to, but I knew nothing about his life or relationship status, and neither did my friend. So I followed him on Instagram, and he followed me back.”
From there, Amurri and Hock started messaging one another and getting to know each other better. They found that they shared interests in food, museums, books, and the French language. According to the blog, in the beginning, the couple focused on forming a friendship before going on their first date six months later, which took place at Don Memo—Hock’s restaurant in Westport, Connecticut. “By the time he took me to dinner for the first time, I felt SO close to him, and so safe with him, and it was an old-fashioned courtship in a lot of ways,” the blog mentioned.
Since Amurri has three children—Mateo, Major, and Marlowe—whom she shares with former professional soccer player Kyle Martino, she said that her children are always her first priority when it comes to dating and new relationships. Luckily, Hock was supportive from the start. “I’m so moved by the relationships he has developed with my kids,” she said. “I’m also so grateful that Ian is so supportive of my co-parenting relationship with Kyle. It means the world to me that he knows and understands how much Kyle means to me and to the kids, and some of my happiest days have been when we have spent time all together. I LOVE IT. To anybody embarking on dating after divorce, or thinking about whether you’re ready: there is happiness out there!”
