The actress and model dove headfirst into marriage back in 2018 after just a few weeks of dating. From being “just friends” to welcoming baby Sylvester Apollo Bear, here is a complete timeline of Emily Ratajkowski and Sebastian Bear-McClard’s relationship.

February 13, 2018: First Public Appearance as a Couple

Three months after Emily ended her long-term relationship with music producer Jeff Magid (and one month after reports confirmed the breakup), she was spotted on February 13th looking cozy with Sebastian at La Poubelle in Los Feliz, California. The pair had been in the same friend circle for some time, but this was their first public outing as a couple. "Emily has known Sebastian for years. They were all in a friend group. He wasn’t a stranger," a source told Us Weekly.

February 23, 2018: Wedding in New York City

Emily and Sebastian tied the knot in a civil ceremony in New York City on February 23, 2018 in front of a small audience of just a couple of friends. Emily broke the news to fans on her Instagram, writing, "Sooo, I have a surprise, I got married today," on her stories. She shared the announcement alongside a series of photos from the day, featuring her unconventional wedding day attire: a gorgeous mustard suit from Zara and a black wide-brimmed hat with netted veil. 

She commemorated the occasion with a post on Instagram with the caption “ny” surrounded by wedding rings, a nod to the private New York City Hall wedding ceremony. 

March 2018: Honeymoon in Utah

The newlyweds delayed their honeymoon for a month before setting off to Canyon Point, Utah for a luxurious stay at the Amangiri Resort. They spent evenings enjoying the purple-tinted desert skies, taking laps in the pool, and exploring the Instagram-famous Antelope Canyon. 

April 2018: Emily Shares Proposal Story

In April, Emily appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and told the story of how her now-husband popped the question. “He proposed to me at Minetta Tavern [in New York City], and he didn’t have a ring so I was like, 'Mmm, nah,'" the model revealed. "And then he took the paper clip that the bill was paid with and made me a ring, which I actually thought was really romantic."

November 2018: Emily Sets the Record Straight

On Busy Tonight, Emily addressed the false rumors that she and Sebastian rushed into marriage. She set the record straight, saying the two had been friends for years. "We knew each other for a long time before and he likes to joke ‘yeah everyone thinks we got married quickly, but you vetted me for two years,'" Emily told host Busy Phillipps.

February 23, 2019: Celebrating Their One-Year Anniversary

Emily and Sebastian celebrated their first year of marriage with the model sharing some never-before-seen photos of their intimate civil ceremony. "Marrying you has been one of the greatest joys of my life,” she wrote in the caption. In true high-fashion model style, Emily also shared a tastefully topless photo showing off her engagement ring and wedding band. The two-stone engagement ring features both a teardrop-cut diamond and a princess-cut diamond set against a thin gold band. Her wedding band is a plain wide gold band, which she and her husband reportedly had made together.

March 2019: Real Estate Scandal

While Emily is used to being in the spotlight, her producer husband made waves in the media when The New York Post ran a story citing he owed his landlord $120,000 in rent. Sebastian claimed protection under the Loft Law, which is a set of rules and orders from New York’s Loft Board designed to protect artists from eviction under certain circumstances. 

Ratajkowski came to her husband’s defense on Twitter, writing "I’m proud he’s fighting the good fight against a real estate conglomerate that bought the building he lives in for 40 million and has continued to spread misinformation on its tenants in order to profit. NYC has changed so much and it’s a shame that people who work in creative fields are being moved out of the city."

May 2019: Puppy Parents

Emily and Sebastian adopted a Husky-German Shepherd mix, which they named Colombo, in May 2019. Since, the dog’s daily walks have been the reason for some of Emily’s best street style paparazzi images, which she shows off on her Instagram. "Everyone out here having babies (Kim, Megan, Amy) but we got a new special guy ourselves. It’s a boy! Meet Colombo," Emily posted.

February 2020: Independent Spirit Awards

"Uncut Gems," a film produced by Sebastian alongside his creative partners, the Safdie brothers, was nominated for best feature at the 2020 Independent Spirit Awards. Sebastian and Emily attended the red carpet, with Emily beaming with pride at her husband's success.

October 2020: Expecting a Baby

Two and half years after their surprise nuptials, the couple announced they’re expecting their first child together with an essay Emily wrote in Vogue. She spoke candidly about gender and parenting, writing, "When my husband and I tell friends that I’m pregnant, their first question after 'Congratulations' is almost always 'Do you know what you want?'"

"We like to respond that we won’t know the gender until our child is 18 and that they’ll let us know then," she says, adding that the couple is much more interested in "who—rather than what—is growing inside my belly. Who will this person be? What kind of person will we become parents to? How will they change our lives and who we are?"

March 8, 2021: Sylvester Apollo Bear Is Born

Emily and Sebastian welcomed their first child on March 8, 2021, named Sylvester Apollo Bear—or Sly, for short. She announced the joyous news on Instagram with a photo of her breastfeeding the newborn.

"Sylvester Apollo Bear has joined us earth side. Sly arrived 3/8/21 on the most surreal, beautiful, and love-filled morning of my life," she wrote in the caption.

July 8, 2022: The Couple Split

After four years of marriage, Emily and Sebastian split, sources confirmed with People. "They split recently. It was Em's decision. She is doing okay. She is strong and focused on her son. She loves being a mom," the insider told the publication.

While neither have publicly confirmed infidelity as the cause of the breakup, the model notably liked several social media posts of cheating rumors.
