Drew Barrymore Says Britney Spears Skipped One Traditional Wedding Detail

When Britney Spears married Sam Asghari in Thousand Oaks, California, on June 9, 2022, the wedding was a small but star-studded event. Celebrities, such as Madonna, Donatella Versace, Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez, and Drew Barrymore were all in attendance, and some of the singer's friends are sharing details about the day.

Barrymore, who appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon yesterday, September 12, 2022, gushed about the pop star's nuptials. “It was intimate,” the Never Been Kissed star told host Jimmy Fallon. “It was fairy tale-ish. It was very sweet. There was no press. It was the way she wanted to do it.” 

Her absolute favorite part of the wedding? “I also thanked her for not having a sit-down dinner,” Barrymore said. “God, do I hate sit-down dinners.”

When Fallon asked The Drew Barrymore Show host to elaborate, she replied, “Guess what, we all got dressed up. We all want to dance, and we want to hang out. They always separate you, like, we’re gonna force you into a new social endeavor. The person you came with that you want to hang out with is over there. Why did you do that? And, now, let’s eat some bizarre food that you didn’t choose.”

Instead of having a formal dinner, Spears and Asghari opened up the dance floor immediately after their ceremony. “We had the best time, and I was like, ‘Thank you,’” Barrymore shared.

The “Toxic” singer and the personal trainer first met in 2016 while working on her music video for “Slumber Party.” A year later on New Years, the couple made their relationship official. In September 2021, the pop sensation announced her engagement by posting a Reel to Instagram, showing off her princess-cut engagement ring. “I can’t f**king believe it 💍💍💍💍💍💍❣️!!!!!!" she captioned the video.
