From Rihanna to Jennifer Lopez, Drake has had his fair share of high-profile romantic relationships. Now, the rapper is reminiscing on his past loves by dedicating a new piece of jewelry to them. The "One Dance" singer created a custom necklace, aptly named “Previous Engagements,” featuring 42 diamonds and 351.38 carats to symbolize each time he thought about proposing but never did.
Jeweler Alex Moss revealed the luxurious piece of jewelry on Instagram on December 13, 2022. The post includes a video that showcases the necklace from different angles while a voiceover describes the process and meaning behind it. “Bordering the impossible,” the voiceover says. “An expedition spanning 14 months. Every diamond hand-selected. Inspected to only suit perfection.”
The video then takes a closer look at the dozens of diamonds used in the final piece. “This monumental art piece was assembled using 351.38 carats of diamonds mounted in 18K white gold,” the voiceover continues. “Each stone meticulously set, utilizing the eagle claw technique. 'Previous Engagements' for all the times he thought about it but never did. A true wonder of the jewelry world. Presented by Alex Moss New York and Drake.”
Along with the video, the post includes the caption, “New piece titled 'Previous Engagements' for all the times he thought about it but never did it. 42 engagement rings, 351.38 carats in diamonds." On Friday, December 9, 2022, Drake was spotted wearing the extravagant accessory while performing during Lil Baby’s concert in Atlanta, according to Us Weekly.
Although the “God’s Plan” singer has dated many celebrities, his most talked-about relationship was arguably with model Sophia Brussaux. The two sparked dating rumors after they were spotted together at dinner in January of 2017, Us Weekly reports. Although they share their son Adonis together, the former couple wasn’t together when the model gave birth in October of 2017. In December of 2020, a source told the outlet that Drake and Brussaux are “happily coparenting.”
