"Orange Is the New Black" Actress Danielle Brooks Is Engaged

Actress Danielle Brooks got more than just a midnight kiss on New Year's Eve. She received a diamond ring! The Orange Is The New Black star got engaged to boyfriend Dennis Gelin moments before the start of 2020.

She announced the news on January 1 with an Instagram post. "I never thought one of the best days of my year would happen the last week of the year," she wrote. "I get to marry my best friend. We’re ENGAGED!! So excited to become your wife. D&D until the end." Gelin proposed with a diamond ring set on a gold band presumably at a New Year's Eve party.

As soon as Brooks announced the news, a swarm of celebrities headed to the comments to congratulate her. This Is Us actress Susan Kelechi Watson, who also got engaged earlier this year, wrote "Ayyyyyyye! I know the feelin. Blessings to u and ur fianceeeee!" Gabrielle Union and Janelle Monet used emojis to express their congratulations leaving a stream of hearts and confetti and fire emojis, respectively.

Her engagement wasn't the only memorable thing to happen to Brooks this year. After announcing her pregnancy over the summer, Brooks and Gelin welcomed a baby girl on November 16. Looks like we know who the flower girl will be at the wedding!
