Experience
Janet is a writer, director, and producer on Pose; a role that earned her the honor of being the first ever trans woman of color to write and direct a television show episode. She has authored two New York Times bestsellers: Surpassing Certainty and Redefining Realness, both memoirs of her experiences being transgendered. An avid activist and advocate for all women and transgender rights, Janet produced the HBO documentary The Trans-List and founded viral movements such as #GirlsLikeUs and #TransBookDrive. She has created and contributed to columns in Allure and Marie Claire, hosted for MSNBC, and created the Never Before podcast.
Education
Janet graduated from New York University with a Master's degree in Journalism. Prior to that, she conducted her undergraduate studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Merchandising.
