Brock Collection Brings Its Ethereal Romance to Bridal Fashion

Introducing the brand's first-ever wedding collection.

A Brock Collection bridal debut feels long overdue. Loved by fashion editors and celebrities alike (famous fans include Margot Robbie, Selena Gomez, and Jessica Alba to name a few), the brand embodies timeless romance. Signature design codes like graceful silhouettes, delicate details, and Gilded Age glamour run through each collection with an expert touch—thanks to co-founders Laura Vassar and Kristopher Brock—and no one does puffed sleeves and dreamy florals like Brock Collection. So, when the California-based line announced its first foray into bridal with Over The Moon, the preferred wedding style source for in-the-know brides, it promised to be a match made in fashion heaven.

“We have been fans of Brock Collection from the very beginning,” Over The Moon founder and former Vogue editor, Alexandra Macon, tells Brides. “There are certain Brock dresses that have lived rent-free in my head for years," she adds. In short, this was a dream partnership for both parties. The resulting 17-piece collection offers an ideal mix of ready-to-wear and bridal attire and speaks directly to what fans of the brand love most: nostalgia with a twist. “It’s super special, super custom, and very Brock,” says Brock Collection co-founder, Laura Vassar.

In fact, Vassar pulled from her archives for this collection, reimagining some of the brand's greatest hits with novel prints, bridal accessories, and plenty of charm. "Going back into the archives and selecting the things I think women not only would gravitate toward, but that felt nostalgic in and of themselves was really important to me," she explains. And it shows, the collection references plenty of Regency-era details (Bridgerton brides, take note) and Brock mainstays (think flowing bows, ribbons, and lace), which shows a clear reverence for fashion throughout history.

Yet, this collection lives squarely in 2021—and feels very of the moment. There's no period piece costuming or strong retro feeling (a common pitfall of vintage-inspired bridal gowns), and that's what makes Brock special. While designing the collection, Vassar fully embraced modernity, using choice styles as inspiration and updating them for present wear. "I always consider how someone is wearing the piece, which informs a lot of the final decisions we make," she explains. Of course, Brock's bridal gowns are meant to be poetic and distinctive, but versatility was also top of mind. "With bridal, I was super conscious of all the elements of a wedding day. We want our brides to be able to enjoy their celebrations. That means socializing, laughing, and dancing without worry."

True to form, Brock Collection's bridal presentation highlights luxe fabrics—hand-picked by Vassar in Léon, France ("I have an obsession with fabric, textile development, and yarn dye")—with antique patterns and strict attention to detail. This extensive range of print and material is predictably stunning—especially when shot by co-founder Kristopher Brock and styled by shoe impresario Tabitha Simmons. From lush colors to bridal white ruffles, wedding guests, partiers, and brides alike will find plenty of fashion to suit their tastes.

After all, weddings are celebratory at their core, and clothes were meant to move in. These are dresses with an undeniable impact that still leave plenty of space for cocktails and revelry. As Vassar puts it, "It may not be glamorous, but I think everyone needs to consider the event as a whole—think about the setting, what you'll be doing (and how long!) and a dress that would make you feel the most confident and comfortable there." After months of prep, planning, and styling "there is dancing to be done."

"I love this dress, from the puff sleeves to the bow. The silhouette is quite simple but feels almost regal without being rigid. It’s extremely wearable," says Vassar.

"I wanted to balance the softness of the print with a tiny bit of sex appeal," says Vassar of the Davi silhouette. "The chef's kiss is the capped sleeve that drapes perfectly off the shoulder. I can see a bride wearing the Davi dress to a farewell brunch and just as easily picture someone styling it with a wicker belt for a backyard dinner."

"I LOVE the Devon dress," indicates Vassar. The designer remembers "hand-pleating each row of the dress drape, so the lines, tucks, and fit fell nicely on the body to accentuate in a subtle yet sexy way."
