This holiday season is a time of many firsts for actress Brittany Snow. Not only is it her first holiday in Manhattan (she recently made the cross-country move from California), but she's also a fiancée—a title she claimed earlier this year when her boyfriend Tyler Stanaland proposed with a solitaire diamond ring! While the pair will soon jet off to Florida to celebrate Christmas in the sun, they've still done their fair share of holiday entertaining as an engaged couple this season. Between their weekly pizza nights and wine exchanges, we caught up with Snow to get an inside look at all of her hosting duties this year and how she's celebrating her first holiday as an engaged woman!
For the future Stanaland's, pizza night has become a staple in their new apartment. "The city seems to have brought out the inner pizza maker in us," Snow tells Brides, who hosts homemade pie nights nearly every week. "It’s been fun to have friends over and let everyone put their own twist on it."
Another new tradition in Snow's home? Wine exchanges in replace of overdone cookie and ornament parties. "It’s a crowd-pleaser and everyone goes home happy, mystery wine in hand," she admits, even revealing Meiomi Pinot Noir is her and Stanaland's favorite vino. Perhaps that's what she'll even toast with at her upcoming wedding!
Our decorations this year have been very West Coast-inspired, with our garlands and tablescape inspired by the flavors from California.
While Snow didn't actually reveal any of her wedding plans (we don't blame her for keeping things private), her holiday decorations are giving us some serious winter wedding inspiration. Even being on the East Coast, Snow and Stanaland have still managed to pay homage to California through their home decor. "Our decorations this year have been very West Coast-inspired, with our garlands and tablescape inspired by the flavors from California such as dried citrus fruits, cinnamon sticks and rosemary."
The inspo doesn't end there, however. Among her friends, the Pitch Perfect star is known for gifting her guests a homemade holiday treat, playfully dubbed "Snow's Snacks." Salted almonds, popcorn, pretzels, coconut shavings, yogurt covered raisins and dried cranberries tossed together, presented in a mason jar and tagged with seed paper, it's a recipe that "favors procrastinators" and in our opinion, makes for the perfect DIY wedding favor!
Outside of their home, Snow and Stanaland have taken advantage of everything New York has to offer—this is their first Christmas in the city after all! "Spending our first holiday season in New York has been a nice change of pace and it’s been fun watching the city transform with all its classic holiday festivities," says the actress. "We are excited to experience some of the city’s classic traditions, like the holiday markets, ice skating and visiting the tree at Rockefeller Center."
It’s so important and a priority for us to spend time with family, especially during the holidays.
And in between all of the sightseeing, festivities and entertaining one thing remains a priority: family. "It’s so important and a priority for us to spend time with family, especially during the holidays," expresses Snow. Last year, Stanaland joined his now-fiancée for the holiday in Florida and this year, the duo is celebrating their engagement by getting both of their families together. "Who knows, maybe it will become a shared tradition," she adds.
One thing is for certain, though: Snow's Christmas in the sun will be "spent under the umbrella playing backgammon while enjoying a glass of wine." It might not sound different than her holidays in the past (she celebrates in Florida every year), but this year she gets to do it all with her fiancé. Perhaps by this time next year, she'll be playing backgammon and sipping Meiomi as an official wife!
