Who could forget the genius soundtrack behind this year's hit show, Bridgerton? Simon and Daphne fell in love to some of our favorite songs—Ariana Grande's "thank u, next," Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy," and Maroon 5's "Girls Like You"—all re-invented with the classical string instruments typical of a period piece. If you loved Bridgerton as much as we do (who doesn't?) and are planning a wedding, then you're in luck.
Vitamin String Quartet, the band responsible for the iconic soundtrack in Bridgerton, is releasing a wedding album meant for the Bridgerton-inspired bride. Perfect for your ceremony, reception, and everything in between, it includes romantic throwback favorites like "Take On Me" to "Total Eclipse of the Heart," all reimagined in the group's signature style.
"The word 'Flashback' is one that many people recognize when it comes to a particular brand of music programming, but it also has a visceral, immediate sensibility," says James Curtiss, the Director of A&R and Creative Director for Vitamin String Quartet. "You can see the word in big, bold treatment. So, flashing back, as it were, to an era of love songs that people loved then and love now."

Consider this album your "something old." The group—comprised of musicians Lauren Elizabeth Baba, Leah Zeger, Amanda Lo, and Derek Stein—included 12 hand-picked, throwback tunes for the new album, curated specifically to be the soundtrack to your wedding. And who doesn't love oldies at a reception? Throwbacks from the '70s, '80s, and '90s are basically required listening at any wedding, keeping generations of guests happy, engaged, and ready to dance.
"Even before VSQ really exploded, people were asking us for sheet music or to play at weddings," says Curtiss. "We started to develop themes that allow us to play with different kinds of wedding albums and recordings. This one was particularly fun for me because I grew up listening to and loving so much of what wound up on the album. I have a personal story for every one of the songs we covered."

The quartet's song selection—which includes two songs featuring the string trio Simply Three (Zack Clark, Nicholas Villalobos, and Glen McDaniel)—will fit perfectly at any point during your special day. The band considered everything from your walk down the aisle and entrance to the reception to the first dance and sparkler send off. VSQ's violinist Zeger says her personal favorite wedding moment is performing songs during a bride's trip down the aisle.
"This music is perfect for walking down the aisle because of the decades-old tradition of string quartets playing wedding ceremonies," she says. "I’ve played for wedding ceremonies and cocktail hours with string quartets since I was a little girl. Any of these songs would also be great for entering the reception."
If Bridgerton has inspired your dress, ceremony style, or even your color scheme, this album is the perfect pairing for any couple taking cues from the Duke and Duchess of Hastings during wedding planning. Mixing in some period drama strings with a modern twist just made sense for the show, so it isn't a surprise that the group's music has become popular for weddings as well.

"VSQ music has always been perfect for placements in tv shows, commercials, and movies because the string quartet is basically the oldest 'band' there is that is still in wide existence, and when you have that band play some of the coolest songs ever written, you get something timeless," Zeger tells Brides. "It is perfect for the period in which the show takes place. Bridgerton’s success is also not much of a surprise as it is sexy, fun, and feel-good TV!"
And they're already thinking ahead. Curtiss teased new music in the highly-anticipated second season of the smash-hit show. "It was really validating and beautiful to see songs we recorded used so wonderfully in a totally different medium and setting," he says about season one. "As for Season two of Bridgerton, well, we’ll see what kind of surprises we all have in store for you." We can't wait.
Vitamin String Quartet's "Our Flashback Wedding" is available on Spotify starting June 4.
