Bill Nye the Science Guy is now a married guy! The popular science educator found chemistry with journalist Liza Mundy, and it’s unlike anything he’s ever taught about! Near the end of May 2022, the couple said “I do” at the Castle Building’s Haupt Garden at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C., People confirms.

Star Trek star Robert Picardo, who plays The Doctor, officiated the private and intimate ceremony. The pair recited personal vows, which a source described as “equal parts moving and comical.”

For his big day, the engineer sported his father’s cufflinks with small blue stones in the center. The former Washington Post reporter and New York Times best-selling author walked down the aisle in a satin sleeveless mermaid gown, paired with a beaded belt that matched her colorful bouquet.

After they were pronounced husband and wife, the newlyweds celebrated at a reception filled with sweet sentiments. Mundy’s daughter, Anna, and Nye’s brother, Darby, congratulated the couple with heartfelt toasts. The bride upgraded her wedding wardrobe by strapping on sparkly sneakers. For their first dance, the newly married couple swayed to Sam Cooke’s rendition of “What a Wonderful World.” White House photographer Pete Souza captured every beautiful moment during their big day.

Before tying the knot, the duo first met over email. When Nye discovered that Mundy mentioned his mother, Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye, in her book Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II, he couldn’t help but reach out. After bonding over their mutual love of learning and storytelling, the rest was history. We’re beyond thrilled these inquiring minds found their other half!
