Fall is in full swing, and while "wedding season" might be over, the nuptials never truly end. Not to mention the influx of holiday parties and family gatherings to come over the next few months. These seasonal celebrations call for a makeup overhaul–from muted and neutral tones to darker shades and rich colors. My favorite place to start? Lipstick.
In my opinion, a good lip color can totally elevate your finished glam look. And what better time to get dolled up than at a formal fall wedding? One lip product that continues to sell out is the Kylie Cosmetic Matte Lip Kit, which is available in a whopping 25 different shades. But which colors are best for fall? And is the Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit actually worth the hype?
To help inform your fall and winter beauty hauls, I put this coveted product to the test by ordering three new shades for the many soirees on my social calendar this season. I tested and ranked each one, and also reviewed the overall formula and longevity of the product.
Read on for my full breakdown of the best Kylie Lip Kit colors for fall weddings.
My Skin Tone
I have olive skin that tans easily, but my complexion is also pretty fair. Therefore, I'm typically partial to lighter lip colors and neutral shades. My blonde hair also makes it more difficult to find darker and more pigmented lip color options that don't contrast too harshly with my overall look. My skin (including my lips) is also on the dryer side. So I'm always looking for hydrating beauty products and makeup that won't dry me out even further.

The Formula
There's a reason Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits are so popular! The highly pigmented formulas are made to last all day, plus they're vegan. Every Lip Kit comes with one full-size matte liquid lipstick and one full-size pencil lip liner so you can shape and fill in your lips. Before we dive into the official review, here's a quick rundown of the product's benefits and features, according to the brand:
- The Lip Liner: Ultra-creamy, waterproof, transfer-proof, smudge-proof, long-lasting 24-hour wear
- The Matte Liquid Lipstick: True-matte, non-sticky finish, long-lasting eight-hour wear, instant-setting color payoff

I typically prefer lighter, more understated lipstick tones, and I really love how this one turned out. This is a color I'd wear to both formal events (like weddings) and for more casual outings—like a date night or dinner with friends. When paired with my skin tone, 'Candy K' offers a subtle pop of pink that elevates my final makeup look. While this shade would go with pretty much any fall ensemble, I think it would also work for other seasons. In fact, I'd probably wear this to any spring and summer wedding, as it's simple enough for daytime ceremonies.

This pick totally surprised me! I was afraid the rich dark purple pigment of 'Twenty' might be overwhelming on my lighter features, but I actually love the finished look. This deep hue is perfect for the classic black ensembles and jewel-toned dresses that come with fall and winter weddings. I'd wear this lip color with a smokey eyeshadow look to balance it out. This vibrant shade would look stunning on a wide range of skin tones—I could even see the entire bridal party wearing it to coordinate for a black-tie ceremony.

This one is perfect for those "no makeup" makeup looks. I imagine it pairing well with soft brown and gold-toned eyeshadows, as well as a subtle bronzed contour. It's chic, cool, and versatile enough to go with any outfit. This is another shade that I think would look beautiful on any skin tone, as it offers a muted and neutral finish. I love the idea of pairing this with a champagne or terracotta dress for an outdoor fall ceremony surrounded by changing leaves.

The Results
Overall, I'm a big fan of Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kit. My favorite of the three would probably be 'Candy K' for its soft pop of color that works well with my personal skin tone. Plus, it's incredibly versatile, so you can use it all year long. If we're talking season-specific shades, 'Twenty' comes out on top. Fall is the perfect time to play with darker shades and rich colors like purple, red, and brown. 'Exposed' still deserves an honorable mention—if you're going for a neutral lip that goes with any eye makeup look and outfit, this is definitely it.
As for the actual lipstick formula, I can tell that it would last throughout an entire wedding (and maybe even until the next morning). I had a hard time rubbing my lip color off between shades and even had to use makeup remover to achieve a bare lip. So if you're looking for something that has staying power, you can't really go wrong here.
However, I found that the formula dried out my lips almost immediately. As I said, I already have dry skin, and the Lip Kits definitely didn't help. Even though it's a matte lipstick that's not meant to be glossy, a little extra hydration would make a big difference. Despite the dryness, I absolutely love this product and will be rotating all three of these shades for the season's festivities. In the future, I'll just make sure to moisturize and apply chapstick before applying.
