Many couples wonder what to do if the date when they were planning to say "I do" needs to change. While some couples are still choosing to hold small, socially-distanced outdoor ceremonies, some events may have to be rescheduled. If you're planning weddings right now, you'll probably have a ton of questions about changing dates and weighing all the options. You may already be in touch with friends and family about shifting plans, but if you're looking for a more official way to send the news, you might want to consider sending a "change the date" card.
Many of these cards can be printed at home and sent out (an option if you already have postage available in your home), or they can be sent as digital versions. If you've talked to your vendor, you may have already have rescheduled a new date for the festivities. If you don't know the details yet (we know—this is super overwhelming!), that's okay too. You just want to make sure that every guest knows that the event has definitely been postponed, but is still going to happen—and when it does, you'll want them to be there to celebrate with you.

What to look for in change the date cards
For a change the date card, it's good to go with something short and sweet (no need for another fancy wedding suite!), but you'll also want to make sure that all the info your guests need to know is included. If the new wedding date has been already set, that's great—but it's also ok if it's just a postponement card with more details to follow. The most important thing is to give guests enough time to cancel reservations, so the earlier cards are sent out, the better.
