If there's one person that can change our perceptions about maternity clothes, it's Rihanna. Since debuting her baby bump with boyfriend A$AP Rocky in New York City at the end of January, the Fenty founder hasn't missed a fashion beat, boldly baring her belly in sleek and sexy catsuits, lace-up tops, and barely-there sequin fringe designs. "I'm enjoying not having to worry about covering up my tummy," she told People. "If I feel a little chubby, it's like, whatever! It's a baby!"
In RiRi's honor, we're taking a look back at all of the most incredibly stylish celebrity mamas to put pregnancy couture on the map, from royal moms-to-be, like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, to red carpet staples, like Ciara and Kim Kardashian. Ahead, take a peek at 30 of the best celebrity pregnancy fashion looks of all time.
August 16, 1991: Demi Moore
Demi Moore may not be wearing much of … well, anything, in her famous 1991 Vanity Fair cover, in which she showed off her growing bundle of joy, but her decision to pose in the buff had a lasting impact on the fashion industry at large. It paved the way for other pregnant women to own their sexuality—and their style choices. In her 2019 memoir, Inside Out, Demi wrote about her decision, saying that she hoped to show the world "that a pregnant woman could be beautiful and glamorous” with the Annie Leibovitz shot.
The photo has spawned copycats galore over the years, with everyone from Cindy Crawford and Serena Williams following in her footsteps. Wrote Demi: “To help women love themselves and their natural shapes—that's a remarkable and gratifying thing to have accomplished, particularly for someone like me who spent years doing battle with her body.”

J.Lo kept things loose and flowing while pregnant with twins Emme and Maximilian back in 2007, and she looked darn good doing it. In fact, we’d venture to say that the sparkly teal one-shoulder Grecian-style gown she wore for her "En Concierto" performance with then-husband Marc Anthony was one of her best concert looks to date.

Leave it to Kim Kardashian to turn her pregnancy into a Met Gala photo opp! Rather than covering up her bump in extra fabric for the event, the reality star called attention to her changing figure in a skintight Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy dress with a busy floral print. While the look was met with mixed reviews, with Kim telling Vogue that she cried all the way home over memes that began circulating comparing the piece to a couch cover, two *very* notable fashion heavyweights—Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen—gave it their official seal of approval. “I just remember the Olsen twins came up to me and loved my outfit and my gloves, so none of the critics mattered, because the Olsen twins approved,” Kim recalled, adding, “Now I love it, now it's sick.”

Grammy win? Check. Glitzy gown? Check. Burgeoning belly? That's a check. Beyoncé all but dominated the 2017 awards, dressing up her bump in a sequin-covered red Peter Dundas design with a square-cut neckline for the red carpet. Halsey didn't just give us one spectacular look while pregnant with son Ender in 2021—she gave us an entire sartorial cinematographic masterpiece in the form of her visual album, "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power." The mama-to-be's stylist, Law Roach, dug deep into the fashion vault for their insanely ornate costumes, one of which was originally worn by Linda Evangelista on the 1996 runway for Vivienne Westwood. Telling the tale of a pregnant queen being persecuted for her late husband's death, the film also featured a scene of the singer baring it all, giving viewers an über-intimate glimpse of her unborn babe.

Rihanna's red carpet pregnancy debut was over-the-top fabulous, with a sliced sequin halter top and a pair of matching bottoms from The Attico's spring 2022 collection. The skin-baring look wasn't a fluke—as the Ocean's Twelve star told Fashionista, it was an intentional choice designed to boost her mojo. "I'm trying to challenge myself because it’s a challenge getting dressed and feeling sexy [while pregnant],” she told the publication. “So I’m pushing myself to just go for it, and I’m having fun. So the stuff that’s more strappy or more revealing or that’s not for maternity, I want that."
